New Amusment Park For Orlando?

As long as it keeps it's distance from my beloved Disney it can happen, I suppose. I still think it's going to be an eyesore compared to the glorious and well-themed Disney, Universal, Sea World and even Busch Gardens parks. I just keep picturing the Cedar Point skyline for some reason and it makes me sad =[

I would not worry about Disney and eyesores too much Jordan. Walt Disney World covers enough land and was built in such a way to avoid exactly that. (Geeky reference for you - The WDW Property has enough land for them to actually duplicate everything they already have, parks, hotels, etc.)
There is a fair amount of perimeter land around the whole of their property, particularly nearer the parks. Walt made a point of doing exactly that after what happened in Anaheim. within a very short time all these seedy hotels and buisnesses turned up, right out side the park which spoilt the illusion for a totally escapist world. WDW property was bought and developed with this in mind.

Going back to the plans.
I agree, it really does sound massively far fetched. As people have said, it reads like an RCTers dream world, especially considering the fact the world is in economic doggy doo-doo.

Perhaps they are finding it easier to get the start up capital because the financiers are looking at the odds of the park being a success and being convinced. Orlando really doesn't have that much in terms of full-on thrills and this park will cover that chunk of the market. Some parks have a couple of larger rides of course, but none of them are really catered to the bigger thrill seekers.

With a projected 2013 opening I expect the actual construction will start mid to late 2011 - IF it all goes ahead of course.

Time for an appeal!!!!! But seriously, I was worried about this from the start. I hope they come to some compromise...

To be honest, no matter how much they appeal for this thing, it's not going to happen. They need to go back to the drawing board and get some noise reducing ideas!

Looks like they aren't planning on having custom-designed coasters at the park now...so that just took away most of my interest...

"The developers behind the thrill-ride park said during the meeting that they're working with four well-known ride manufacturers: S&S Worldwide, Intamin, Vekoma and Mack. But they made it clear they wouldn't feature custom-built rides at the park, as large theme parks often do. Instead, they plan to use existing ride designs, tweaking the "off-the-shelf" models in some cases to provide experiences unique to Orlando."

^There are a large number of coasters that they do that cannot be found in the USA, UK etc.

Mack do a launched coaster, S&S a 4D coaster etc.

Who cares if their off the shelf it is still better than what is there now and it will still mean more rides.

This company must have a lot of money to pull something this big off with this many roller coasters. I smell a little Dubai influence here. I am really interested in seeing the Pretzel one.

It Looks pretty cool but i won't be excited for it unless its actually built. I think that it would defiantly add some much needed roller coasters to the Orlando park scene.

^I think he means "much needed" roller coaster types. Orlando already has an impressive line-up of coasters but they are almost solely B&Ms. This park would feature coasters from Intamin, Mack and Vekoma bringing some new interesting (and much needed) coaster types to the Orlando scene!

^Yes I see, much needed for different coaster types. There are too many B&Ms in Orlando. God I need to live in Orlando now. :)

^lol thats exactly what i mean't. To me Orlando needs some taller coasters, something that Intamin could bring to the table. Vekoma in my opinion is only good for boomerangs. I find that Universal is really the only park in Orlando that brings in good coasters. Disney only provides good theming around softer rides.

I'm not saying that there won't be any interesting and no doubt thrilling coasters at the proposed park, but of-the-shelf would kinda exclude that "pretzel-loop" coaster that pablo was referring to. I'm just saying that it went from all of these ridiculous and creative coaster designs to the possibility of some repeats that have simply been "tweaked".

Problem with the current coasters in Orlando is that they are old and the area needs something new.

^ Well in that case you make a good point. But for me I was more interested in this park for its original claims of some "firsts"

Might as well shut down all the parks in Orlando. This sounds too good. But it all depends on how good the coasters are designed.
