I listen to a bunch of different stuff... seems like I picked up different genres at different points in my life.
I was brought up on classic rock... Led Zep, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eagles, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd (my dad's favorite band.. He wanted to name me Floyd when I was in the womb but my mom wouldn't have it  ), Hendrix, the Who... etc, etc. This is still some of my favorite music to just chill or drive to.
Later started listening to more 80's music and Van Halen became my favorite band.. still is, if I had to pick just one. I'm also a sucker for extremely dated synthpop.
As a young kid in the 90's I listened to US pop radio a lot so that kind of stuff is still some of my favorite music to listen to.. some of it is actually really good, but I'm sure nostalgia also plays a large role in how I feel about it as well.
In the last few years of high school and into college, I started to get more into rap & hip-hop, then more recently EDM. Also really got into Muse & 30 Seconds to Mars. I still listen to pop radio on occasion but so much of it is cookie-cutter and uninspired that I may only like a handful of songs that are on radio rotation at a given time.
Having taken classical piano lessons from age 5 to 19, I also have an appreciation for classical music & still listen to it occasionally to relax or when I'm studying/working. Same goes for jazz, which I started listening to more in middle & high school.
I haven't really gotten into metal or country, though I do have a little bit from each genre in my iTunes. Perhaps one of those will be my next phase..
