I listen to a bunch of different stuff... seems like I picked up different genres at different points in my life.

I was brought up on classic rock... Led Zep, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eagles, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd (my dad's favorite band.. He wanted to name me Floyd when I was in the womb but my mom wouldn't have it  ), Hendrix, the Who... etc, etc. This is still some of my favorite music to just chill or drive to.

Later started listening to more 80's music and Van Halen became my favorite band.. still is, if I had to pick just one. I'm also a sucker for extremely dated synthpop.

As a young kid in the 90's I listened to US pop radio a lot so that kind of stuff is still some of my favorite music to listen to.. some of it is actually really good, but I'm sure nostalgia also plays a large role in how I feel about it as well.

In the last few years of high school and into college, I started to get more into rap & hip-hop, then more recently EDM. Also really got into Muse & 30 Seconds to Mars. I still listen to pop radio on occasion but so much of it is cookie-cutter and uninspired that I may only like a handful of songs that are on radio rotation at a given time.

Having taken classical piano lessons from age 5 to 19, I also have an appreciation for classical music & still listen to it occasionally to relax or when I'm studying/working. Same goes for jazz, which I started listening to more in middle & high school.

I haven't really gotten into metal or country, though I do have a little bit from each genre in my iTunes. Perhaps one of those will be my next phase..

HUGE music fan! I've spent waaay too much time listening and reviewing it.

Rock and metal.

My favorite genres are progressive rock and metal, which include a whole bunch of sub genres that only hardcore music nerds like me will know

But I love classic rock, heavy metal as well as punk, and even jazz.

I was brought up from birth with Pink Floyd and early Genesis. Darkside Of The Moon and A Trick Of The Tail. I will always remember 'It's 1 o'clock and it's time for lunch dum dee dum dee dum'. Now I listen the these songs!

My tastes varies wildly from extreme metal to pop to artsy/alt. stuff and many things in between. In general, I tend to like things which are hard to neatly categorize, music which transcends the limits of genre. For example, one row of my disorganized cd collection jumps from Nick Cave to Testament to Run DMC to Fantomas to Isis...
Oh, and I really love The Wildhearts - the greatest pop metal band of the 90's.

First pick definitely rock, second pick is tough for me since I actually am pretty diverse with the music I listen to. I listen to quite a bit in every genre except metal and jazz. How about I just list some songs for you guys to listen to that gives you a slight taste at exactly what I'm talking about:

It's a good overview and apart from "The Mail on Sunday" it does seem to cover my listening habits really nicely.

Although somebody has been sneakily listening to My Comical Bromance while I've not been looking...

I prefer pop-punk/rock type music. I also like classic rock.

I said techno, but to be honest, I like almost every type of music to some extent. A better way to put it is that I like some music from virtually every genre. Also I like tons of music that doesn't fit into any categories on the list such as big band, cinema and video game music, and parody music.
