Antique keyboards, cloud gazing and rainbows that flow.

Listening to Husky Rescue is like sucking on a very sweet flower, or smoking bright red polka dot mushrooms from those vintage Eastern European folk stories. It’s all extremely disorientating and sickening. The haunting ambiguity doesn’t help much either.

But there’s something oddly innocent about their music. The vocals are icy, and the sounds are brassy. The contrast creates an altogether amazing sound.

I wish I could describe music like Zimni, that paints a very good picture. Not only is that track cool, the review's cool too :p

Cheers! I have a weird imagination, and I like metaphors. It's easy to make stuff up and make music sound good. Just, feel the music maaan.

I really feel like I'm slipping into a hippie-esque state of mind. Posting in the God topic doesn't help much either.

LOL CoasterOllie.

Awesome recommendations.

One band I've been loving recently are Peter, Bjorn and John. You probably heard their big hit "Young Folks" in 2006/2007:

But the album this is off, 2006's "Writers Block" is amazing, and contains brilliant song after brilliant song, my personal favourite being:

It's well worth picking up. They have 2 other albums, but Writers Block is certainly their best yet, but there are some good songs on the others too.

Death Cab For Cutie- Narrow Stairs

dcfc-narrow_stairs-cover.jpg

This Death Cab Cd is definitely on the up beat for them. The single, I Will Posses Your Heart is 8:35 long with 4 minutes of lots of bass and drumming almost Post Rock-ish. The song itself one it begins is awesome. The Cd's fault would be a weak middle. Talking Bird and You Can Do Better Then Me are weaker songs.

The last 5 songs are some of the best. The stand out tracks are definitely Grapevine Fires and Your New Twin Sized Bed.

Overall 8/10

^^ Matt I jsut downloaded that CD and I second that. The CD is definately a Winner :)

Tokyo Police Club - Elephant Shell

elephant_shell.jpg

While not as catchy as their last album Elephant Shell is a a great and upbeat CD. The songs have less bass than in their first CD and are all a bit longer. The CD also has a remake of their single Your english Is Good (I prefer the single version). The thing it has more tracks than the first. Compare 11 to 7 ;). Overall not a bad CD, Catchy, and upbeat.

Nicely done Jer. Love Elephant Shell. Check out the new Nada Surf as well.

CANNOT stop listening to this song!

Two Doors Down - Mystery Jets

Pure 80s! And it's so catchy and amazing, they're also fantastic live. I'm just gutted i never heard this earlier (well, i did...but it was live and i was drunk). I've just got the album now too, Twenty One which i'm just listening to now, but am already impressed.

Pendulum - In Silico Is a very good album. I bought it because of good reviews, and saying that it was a revolution in D & B music and some suprise element of rock bases (Not that I like rock, I hate it tbh...)
But I was suprised at how much I enjoyed the album.

Also, Scooter - Jumping All Over The World - For all you ravers.
It's not a bad album at all.

THIS suprised me.

Alanis Morissette - Flavours of Entanglement

Now i used to like Alanis, back in the days when she released Jagid Little Pill and Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, but since then i thought her career was abit..lame. She didn't progress. And when i heard the single from this album i thought (oh noes, it sounds the same). So i avoided it.

But after hearing some good stuff and that she's collaborated with Guy Sigsworth, who's worked with Seal, Bjork and Madonna. I gave the rest of the album a listen, and it's GRITTY haha, i love it. Loads of dirty rocky/electro beats and swearing, couple of gorgeous slow songs too. But most importantly it sounds more up-to-date than anything she's done in a LONG time.

I still get the nostalgia from her voice, and the albums not perfect, there is a few skip tracks, but for any old-school Alanis fan, it's worth a bash.

Cursive- The Ugly Organ

s85193531.jpg

The 4th full length by Cursive that came out in 2003 is another concept album following the life of the Ugly Organist. The whole CD culminates into the last song "Staying Alive" where the Ugly Organist says he's staying alive amidst the cheating, lies and murder.

The actual music is very enjoyable fast paced indie rock. Indie rock for people that don't like indie. Tim Kashar's lyrics are truly unbelievable. I'd recommend you listen to the cd the first time with the lyrics. Its a great cd. Here's a preview:

I posted Hadouken!'s debut album on here a few pages back :D

Hadouken! are basically mainstream now, though, so it's not really a shock. I'm really glad about this because they deserve it!

Insane you put a Crystal Castles song <3

and I completely agree with Santogold! She's ****ing amazing! She reminds me of M.I.A. as well, which is an obvious plus.

The latest song from Oscar-winning hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia is great! Especially at parties.

I've also listened to some of Flo Rida's debut album "Mail on Sunday" too, which is pretty decent.

Low, Elevator and In The Ayer are great.

N.E.R.D_-_Seeing_Sounds.jpg

N.E.R.D. - Seeing Sounds

"All the girls standing in the line for the bathroom!!"
Seeing Sounds, N.E.R.D.'s 3rd studio album was inspired by the neurological phenomenon synesthesia, which combines two senses.
I'm actually loving this album right now, its like they've come from full circle in terms of their sound and they've all learnt how to play instruments better.

I love the fusion of Rock, Hip Hop & R'n'B, the whole album is very listenable although evidentally some tracks are better than others.
Stand-out tracks apart from Everyone Nose: Windows, Anti-Matter & Love Bomb, you might wanna skip Sooner or Later as its repetitive and it just goes on for too long but its nice to listen to for about 2 minutes..

I loved Everyone Nose (lead track from album) when I heard it a couple of months back on the radio. Sure, its about doing lines of crack in the loo but hey, the fast-paced beat is incredible and it makes you wanna bop about like crazy.

7.5/10

Ooooohhh you Swedes! stop it with your continuous know how to make good pop music.
Sounds like Kylie, is half naked (hmmm.. bit cliché but always a good thing) and wields a whip!

Would make a great summer tune!
