Missed coasters

Saw: The Ride. Reason - Three-to-four hour queue.
Colossus (I had actually been looking forward to that one. Keep in mind that Loopen is the only similar ride I've been on): It had broken down that day.

Perhaps going to the park on the first day of the Easter holiday wasn't a too bright idea, but at least I got a ride on Stealth and Nemesis Inferno. And Flying Fish.

My lone credit I massively desire is Jr. Gemini at CP.. as I've been on everything else 1,000 times but haven't been on lonely #18. But, I do have muh baby girl so when she's old enough.. boom!
And the one time I went I rode all 18 in one day lol! (although now that I reflect back on it, knidnapping a five-year-old to go on a 10-foot tall kiddie coaster just isn't worth it)

Andwho, Lake Compounce a couple weekends ago I missed out on Zoomerang because I was at the horrible Haunted Graveyard. I already had the Zoomerang credit and hadn't been to the Graveyard, though, so I wanted to try it once.

I was only able to go on one half of the dueling dragons at islands of adventure. We got off chinese fireball and went up to go on hungarian horntail but the ride op said it was closed.

In 2009, I missed out on riding Mumbo Jumbo at Flamingo Land, It was fully constructed, but wasn't due to open 2 weeks until after my visit I think it was. I was gutted I had missed it by such a narrow margin.

I've been back to Flamingo Land since and ridden on it since then, was good!

When I first started really caring about coasters and had the confidence to go on them, I was at WDW. The day we got there was the Last day before Space Mountain went down for refurb. We got to MK at 8:00pm and found it had closed early to be cleared of lost items etc. It was awful. Thankfully this has since been remedied when I went last August.

The other was when I went to Hershey in 2008 (I think) Storm Runner was down and I couldn't ride it. If all goes as planned that will change in the next 9-10 days(depending on how you look at it)

Storm Runner is great it had some problems when i went to but i got on it before it started to act up. It's probably my favorite at hershey other than fahrenheit.

Maverick at Cedar Point, twice.

Went with my family when it was due to be open, but it was closed that week...they had to replace a piece of track... :x We were upset since it looked so awesome, just this gaggle of twisted steel.

Went a few years later with some friends, and told them "hey dudes I missed this one last time, we absolutely have to do Maverick" but they are a little less...intense than I. Got to the park about 2 hours late :x because of leaving too late and stopping...the lines were huge so they kept pushing it off.
With one hour left till closing time, there was a 1 hour wait for Maverick. I said, "Don't worry that it's cutting it close, they will let you on as long as your on line" but they didn't wanna hear it and were tired...

Besides they'd rather do 2 or 3 rides over just the 1.
I was stoked, and told them but gotta go with the group right?
I was slightly mad at them for a day or 2

As they say, third times the charm! Hoping to go to Cedar Point later this year, with a better group and one who promised we'd certainly do Maverick, so really hoping we can make it happen.

Nighthawk was closed for the day when I went to Carowinds in 2010. Was a little bummed I didn't get to nab every credit in the park and I did kind of want to see what a Vekoma flyer is like (not great, I'm sure), but I haven't lost sleep over it. Suppose I'll be back there someday if they add a new coaster that's worth going out of the way for.

I also missed a few coasters at parks I visited as a kid, before I would have considered myself an enthusiast and had any concept of a coaster count:
- Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa
- Everything at Elitch Gardens (circa 2000) except for Sidewinder & Boomerang, so that's 4 credits

So yeah, again... nothing to lose sleep over.

I actually really enjoy the Vekoma flying coasters. They are nothing compared to B&M but still very enjoyable and unique.

Reviving an old topic... I've become sort of infamous amongst my goon friends for having a disgustingly large number of missed creds. The number becomes really gross once I factor in parks that I've seen (driven by, etc.), but not visited. The total number of missed/seen creds is well over 150 and the reasons are plentiful:

  • Laziness... such as Boomerang at Six Flags Mexico which was lined out past the entrance
  • Pride... this was the case for a while when it came to a lot of kiddie coasters
  • Being cheap... opting not to pay for many of the creds I passed up at Winter Wonderland
  • Running out of time... Full Throttle
  • Random closure... Jetline, Wicked
  • SBNO... Drachen Fire, Ring Racer
  • COVID restrictions... Jet Star 2 at Lagoon
  • Weather... all of Rye Playland, all of Park at OWA
  • Visits during non-operating days... all of SFDK
  • Annual maintenance... the shot through the heart, DC Rivals Hypercoaster
Nevermind all of the parks that I have driven right by but were either closed or I was unable to visit from one reason or another (Walibi Belgium, Walygator, Frontier City, Cliff's, Western Playland, Buffalo Bill's, Silverwood, Wonderland, Family Kingdom to name some of the more notable cases).

However, the situation that still irritates me is Freizeitpark Klotten. We were staying in nearby Cochem which has a chairlift that takes you partially up the mountain that the park sits atop. From there, it's only a 1km walk, but it's roughly a 13% grade climb the entire way so it's a good hike. On top of that, it was around 36 degrees C that day so it was HOT. So, we made this sweltering hike up to the park and went to buy our tickets, only to find that they wouldn't allow us in. The park was completely operational and there were lots of people inside who were on the rides. However, unbeknownst to us, the park stops allowing entry after a certain time in the afternoon and we were there after the cutoff. I was stunned to discover that they would refuse customers were willing to pay to enter. Nevertheless, we trotted back down the mountain without actually stepping foot in the park.

Outside of kiddie creds, which I personally don't see much point in doing, I skipped Ninja and Revolution both at Magic Mountain. I had two days but that still didn't really feel like enough to do everything, at the time I was like, what, 11 at the time, so I didn't really know what I was doing. And I prioritized the other bigger rides, which I'm still a bit disappointed about, I'd definitely have passed on Goliath and Green Lantern if I had two skip any two coasters there with the hindsight I have today, haha! But fingers crossed I can return there sometime, for Lex Luthor which I didn't do also for poor planning and time management, and also the many new rides there, in Full Throttle, Twisted Colossus, West Coast Racers, Wonder Woman Flight of Courage, and so on. Hell, retracked Apocalypse also seems really cool too! I really enjoyed my one and only GCI, and I'd be eager to re-ride it after the retracking!

I also skipped Skull Mountain at Great Adventure, and I'll be honest, I don't think I even knew it existed when I went to the park, haha, but it does look kinda cute!
