Magic Springs was Going to be a Six Flags Park

Scoobert McDoobert

Roller Poster
Alright, so I was on Ultimate Rollercoaster today (I usually like to go into their news archive to get more information about theme parks of the era), and I found an article from March 23, 1999, which was about Premier Parks planning to reopen Magic Springs in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Now, I already knew about Premier owning the park for a short period of time, but I remembered that Ed Hart actually reopened the park in 2000, not Premier. Then I remembered that their kiddie train ride had lettering on the side that spelled out "Looney Tooter", despite that not being the ride's name. This was odd to me, as wasn't that the name of a very similar ride at Six Flags Great America? Then, I began to dig deeper. I began looking at the park as a whole, and it does have a lot of rides that Six Flags liked to build in the late 90's/early 2000's. Even the park's kiddie coaster, Diamond Mine Run, is a clone of Six Flags New England's kiddie coaster, has the same trains as Magic Mountain's Canyon Blaster, and has a very odd looking station that looks like it came straight out of a cartoon. This leads me to believe that maybe work started on the park's conversion into a Six Flags, but they stopped early on and gave it to Ed Hart. I don't know if this is true however, and I just think that it's a neat little thing that I've noticed. This might just be a rumor, and I don't know if this really was the plan, but it's interesting to think about. If anyone does have anything else to add, please reply to either confirm or deny this. Thank you for reading!

Speaking of Magic Springs, I was just looking at the park on RCDB and noticed that Arkansas Twister is listed as SBNO, which is news to me.

Anyone know more about that?

The park reported it as permanently closed a couple of weeks back :( (...that is all I know)

Thanks guys, I obviously missed that news in the other thread.

It's interesting that the park specifically said the ride will not be removed from the park, but remain non-operational.

Perhaps they have future plans for the structure?

Probably not, but dreams are still fun.
