I feel like an Oblivion clone would be difficult to do with all the landscaping involved. As simple as it is, Oblivion's a pretty unique ride.
Possibly we'll see an all-new design?
Well they don't necessarily need to dig a big hole to make an Oblivion clone. They could just do as with Dive Machine G5 in Taiwan and put it above ground!
Well, there's one thing with both Oblivion and G5 that has to be considered, though: The height difference between the top and station.
Oblivion goes a bit up, down a large hole, and waaay back up again, so that the difference in height level is about 20 metres, even though the drop is about 50 metres.
G5 does the same, but goes up a hill, drops down it, and turns back up into the hill again. Again, the height difference is about 20 metres.
But imagine these kinds of coasters on a flat ground. Either, you'd have to build the station up a tower (highly unlikely), or you'd have to have a gigantic lift hill, a large drop which immediately goes into brakes, to slow down the train enough as it returns to the station.
In short, if you're going to make a one-trick-pony DM, you'd need to place the station so that you don't waste a lot of energy on the drop. On flat land, you're better off building a full layout, or at least an Immelmann or a rising turn.
