it was very unlikely that a manufacturer would want to design a track to run anothers trains, they COULD do it as its not very difficult to make a track with a smaller rail diameter and track gauge, but they just wouldn't.

Yes they would.

Give a company enough money to design an entirely new system (track or train) for you, and very few would turn you down if it was within their capabilities*

It has happened many times, where a client has requested entirely unique systems or compatible systems for their existing products.

It just costs a hell lot more, since they would be funding the research and development too

* BaM might be the least enthusiastic about it, but even they have made exceptions such as wooden coaster trains.

Yes, I agree that a company would do it if enough money was involved, and I know it has happened before with manufacturers designing trains to run on existing track, but it doesn't normally happen the other way around.

All I was saying to Xpress is that it is stating the obvious to say that a manufacturer could design a track for anothers trains to run on if the need was there, I did say it was unlikely, but not impossible for them to do it.

I didn't give a reason for this, but as you pointed out, it is down to cost and a park is not likely to fork out the additional cost of design, tooling (jigs ect) when they offer a train capable of running on their own track for a smaller cost.

When i read the list on the original post I was pleasantly suprised that I didnt see all of colossus's inversions but with 7 inline twists instead of 5

Rumours have now surfaced that a 12 loop design might be heading to South America...

2012/2013 - New Coaster - (3/28/11) While we really don’t know much of anything, I’m told that the “park director’ has confirmed that a new coaster is on the way for as early as 2012, as they look at proposals from Vekoma and Intamin.

Will be the first coaster in the world to cross the milestone of 12 inversions.

So it might seem that Thorpe and anyone else that have a 10 inversion model might not keep their record for so much longer...

I actually kinda like it. Even though there are 4 corkscrews, it goes through 2 of them at a time, separated with high speed curves and little airtime hills. I quite like it!
And I love the inclusion of the Norweigan loop!
