What's new

Formula 1 2009

I think it might depend on if Massa/Raikkonen would have won the championship on wins at the end of 2009 ;)

I still think that the FOTA's revised points system was much better than Bernie's.
12-9-7-5-4-3-2-1. Slightly bigger advantage and more reason to try for the win.
And Barrichello for champ this season.

I still firmly hold the opinion that they should revert to the old points system where only six cars get them.

1st - 10pts
2nd - 6
3rd - 4
4th - 3
5th - 2
6th - 1

They've found the qualifying system that works and provides good entertainment, so if it's more value for the win that they want then go back to a system that they know works!

Put it back to 6 places and perhaps give a bonus point to the fastest lap/pole (or both! :p )

Other motorsports like NASCAR and ChampCar do it

I do agree that there should be a point for fastest lap and pole, but having only 6 point scoring places would see the smaller teams dropping like flies. It's like that to give them the chance to score, and get a share of the revenue. I personally think F1 should take the Moto GP point system..

The 1st GP looks like its going to be a mess due to protests over Brawn, Williams and Toyota :(

DC has also been confirmed at the RBR reserve driver, hope he dont get called up this weekend he has done no testing at all.

Well he's working for the BBC so at least he'll be on site

Plus I believe Mark Webber is fully fit now.

^I'd love to see that car in the Virign colours it looks awful at the moment in the plain white. I guess it might take them a while before they finalise anything.

Interesting to see they are all tipping Button for the win on Sunday. I would love to see it as it will certainly mix things up but I can still see the usual names being up there at the top.

Kimi is doing well! But that Williams came in in the last 10 minutes of practice to just pip him and go 1-2.

Hamilton down in 16th (no that is not a misprint - 16th!!! I laughed so hard when I saw that) SLOWER THAN BOTH FORCE INDIA'S!!!

2nd session was interesting. This gp is going to have a strange result thats for sure.

Williams, Toyota and Brawn are quiet a bit ahead of the rest.

Mclaren are way off the pace as are Ferrari and BMW.

Mclaren are the slowest Merc powered car.

Massa certainly is, but as we have discussed Kimi is the much better driver and he's only just over half a second off with his best run

But yeah, lol at the McLaren especially Hamilton! (18th in session 2)

Couldn't believe hearing the results this morning but I still want to wait and see the full qualifying tomorrow morning before you can really tell what teams are on and off the pace.

I'm just hoping the racing is going to be close. I don't really mind who is up there and the prospect of drivers like Hamilton coming through the field should make the racing more interesting overall.

And Red Bull so it would seem, even the Force India's were quicker than them!

I predicted a mere uncompetitiveness on the scale of Ferrari in 2005. I certainly didn't expect this fall from grace!

(But I'm loving it all the same! How long do we reckon it'll be before Button becomes the British media darling again? )
