English Football 2010/2011 Season

I'm taking a HUGE risk with choosing Kuyt over Lampard... But £13m is a ridiculous pricetag to be fair! :?

My team's ok I guess. It will probably change if any decent transfers come in though...
 
Lampard's past it. He's on his downward slope now, whereas Sloth's at his peak, as much as it pains me to say that about a Liverpool player.
 
Why I always have Gerrard or Fabregas, as its the assists that can bump the scores up!

Linvoy Primus' testimonial on the 31st which should be a laugh, £5 a ticket which is awesome. LINNNVOOYYYY!
 
I'm gunna do mine in the last week way too much transfer activity will go on between now and then to pick a team now.
 
Went to the Spurs, Sporting Lisbon, Man City & Red Bulls press conference today to pick up my credentials for the tournament.

After the large Q&A I got a little 1-on-1 time with Tom & Harry.

After the press conference was over I got to talk with Harry for about 5 minutes with no one else around. I was impressed with how friendly & down to earth he is. He spoke candidly about his departure from Pompey, the pressure & expectations when he came to the club last season, the greater pressure & expectations this year, his hopes for Champions League qualification, his dissapointment in missing out on Joe Cole & not getting the chance to lure Ozil away fom Bemen.
Looking forward to tommorow's & Sunday's games. If there's anything you want me to ask anyone after tomorrow's game, let me know.

That was the last time we ever saw Mark Burchill after that incident, hahaha.

I like what Redknapp did for the club, but now we realise he's a twat, he knows how to make a player, granted. But he knows how to ruin one for his whole career.

I reckon if Redknapp became England manager he'd go the same way as Don Revie....a failure at international level because his methods don't work there.
 
Sorry to swing the subject a bit... but as a Liverpool fan I want to say how excited I am about our new manager and signings this close season. I like to play couch-manager, so I made a picture to demonstrate how I think Liverpool should line up next year. 4-3-3, like the top other top clubs in Europe, our two new boys Cole and Jovanovic fit into that shape really well. Kuyt and Babel play it for Holland and Maxi for Argentina. If we hold onto Mascherano that'd help too, otherwise it'd be Lucas in the holding role.

That's how I'd do it anyway... not being an actual football manager and all.
 
Joe cole ain't that good, I don't know many Liverpool fans at work that are happy that he went there.
 
Joe Cole is severely under-rated... He's one of them players who puts himself about in the team but doesn't get the same amount of plaudits as 'bigger' players...

Palace have had about 7 different trialists including a 35 Italian and some Slovenian bloke who was at the World Cup :lol:

2 and a half weeks to go till the Championship, Leagues 1/2, Conference and so on start... Bring it...
 
We've made some decent signing so far, all defensive though:

Ryan Dickson (Left-Back from Brentford) £600,000
Frazier Richardson (Right back from Charlton) £750,000 - Dislocated his shoulder, out for 3 months :roll:
Danny Butterfield (Right Back/Midfielder) Free Agent

Need to sign more midfielders/strikers tbh, been linked with Benjani (seriously I don't know who comes up with this ****) and Luke Varney, and a handful of trialists.

Feeling optimistic for the season :D *touches wood*
 
Southampton don't need Darius Vassel, hes way past it. Not to mention you have the two best strikers in the league in Ricky Lambert and Lee Barnard, Jason Puncheon scores for fun aswell. I think you will walk League 1 next season to be honest, it will be an easier league than last year.

Yeah, I would like to hope that we will! We do a bit more cover/variation up front, because if Lambert or Barnard injure themselves or get banned etc, we would be a bit weak up front (not to say that David Connolly is bad.. but he's not amazing) so another *decent* striker would be helpful, although we're negotiating for Nathan Tyson from Notts Forest atm. We'll see.
 
Another striker for you would help, just incase say Lambert picked up a bad injury early in the season.
