which means there IS a possibility life can be somewhere else (even if the chance of us coming to be is 0.00000001%.. that tiny chance could mean millions of planet Earths existing in the universe).

Yes, a possibility, but Furie was all like noo omg it has to be 100% concrete evidence before I believe in it!

Guess what guys? I still believe in ghosts, you guys don't. These posts are getting us nowhere :p . I've always been interested in paranormal things, even when I was little so, it's something I'll always believe in.

If you believe in ghosts however, you basically believe in afterlife. Afterlife has no strong proof of existance, and if there is such strong proof I'd love to see it.

Show me proof that it doesn't exist, I'd like to see it.

^How utterly thought provoking. It's tempting to lock the topic now. How's that little gem ever going to be beaten?

Sorry, I take it your'e not a believer then, I class it as nieve to just assume 1 thing because there is no proof, when there is actually no proof to proove otherwise anyway.

Jools if you haven't been following the topic, the lack of proof that ghosts do exist, is seen as proof that they don't.

Jools fail. :p

See Taylor, that is the thing.. you seem to have that concrete 'religious' mentality, not being able to open your mind the SLIGHTEST bit to look at other possibilities while holding on to your own beliefs.

Hell.. I still don't think you even understand what we are talking about.

I could careless if you believe or not, go ahead and enjoy your fantasies, but to understand things.. such as other peoples point of view.. was really the majority of what at least I was aiming at.

Obviously, with each and every post you put down, it's obvious you are looking at one black dot and telling the rest of the world to **** off.

Buh. I'm done.

^ My mind is open to the possibility they don't exist, I never said it wasn't.. I just happen to be a believer, that's all. I never told anyone to **** off or anything, I mean, when you think about it, I'm not the ONLY one who believed in it in this topic.. Haha.

Yes, but you're still not understanding. I believe in the possibility based on 100% concrete evidence. There is life in the universe - ergo, mathematically the possibility there is other life is very high.

I believe in the possibility, not in the actual life. I also believe in the possibility of ghosts - it's just that the possibility factor is so minute, it's got to be ignored. Don't mix up a belief in a mathematical possibility with an actual belief in the thing that is mathematically possible :)

To be fair Taylor, it's not about changing your mind - it's about trying to open it a little.

When I was your age, I certainly believed in ghosts and the paranormal. I'd even tell you I'd had paranormal experiences.

It's fine, when you're young you still live in a world which is quite fantastic. You have a very small experience of the world, so can imagine a lot into it. It's a big world, and you're small (in relative terms) and young - it's easy to imagine there's a lot out there that is possible. That's fine, it's one of the brilliant things about being young.

Also, you can see your whole life spread out ahead of you, and all the possibilities available to you. Certainly one thing you don't want to confront is an end to that. You don't want to face getting old, getting boring and dying.

Essentially, this is what we're shoving in your face now :) Not everyone matures to the point where they realise that life IS all about getting old, boring and then dying. They still hold onto the fantasy that there's more to life. Are they right or wrong?

Well, it doesn't actually matter to be honest, but I've had it with people who spend their lives at 40 sitting around smoking pot, discussing which type of fairy is currently in the room and how that picture is haunted. At some point, it becomes very tedious and you do just want people to grow up

A little fantasy is a good thing, and it's certainly the domain of the young. Just remember, that bit of scepticism though - it's always worth it :)

For me, at some point, I realised that life is fantastic enough in real terms - fantasy isn't needed. We can get fantastic physical, mental and emotional payback out of life and people - without having to hunt for anything fantastic. Human beings are an incredible race, that achieve incredible things. The Earth is full of natural wonders that boggle the mind and please the eye.

There's so much brilliance available in real terms that I think (personally) should be explored and enjoyed first before we even need to start looking at things that don't exist. By doing that, you miss the real stuff looking for something that isn't there. It's like daydreaming about being at an imaginary theme park while you're at a theme park. You miss the fun of now for something ethereal.

Erm, yeah - that's pretty much how my mind set altered (some time in my 20's) where I stopped believing in all things fantastic, and started living for the things that are worth living for :)

I guess that's just so you've got some point of reference and understanding - I'm not just a staid old fart trying to ruin your fun :)

^ I get totally what you're saying and I do have an open mind to the fact that they might not exist. I'm not someone with a closed mind at all, sure maybe I'll change my mind someday but maybe not.. I know of older people who still believe in ghosts :p .

Also, I do know that life is about getting out there and seeing things, and experiencing things, and that we do die one day, but still whether I do a lot in my life or not I still think I am scared of dying/family members dying and if the belief that spirits continue in some form after we die makes me feel better about it, then fine. If they don't exist, I'll find that out when I die, but for now it puts my mind at ease at least a little bit.

But no, I do see what you're saying, but I'm not living my life worrying about dying, but then the subject comes up then that is what I believe happens.. And I don't have a closed mind, either. When we're both dead, and there is no ghosts, you can laugh at me :p . Deal?

NO, I believe there is an explanation somewhere, to me it seems to eays to say 'ghost' when something unexplanable happens. You see something you don't understand and say its a ghost or something. Maybe there are ghosts, but untill I have clear proof, I will remain a sceptic.

1) Mum sees man enter the bathroom, we go in to check, all our towels ripped up.

2) Sitting at dining table eating dinner, both candlesticks on shelf flew past my dads head, as iff they were thrown off the shelf.

3) One night we were in bed and heard loud crash, went into dining room, all our board games and books were thrown everywhere, we checked doors, everything was locked.

4) Went to lou one night (as you do), and saw odd lights and shadows until, I looked at the shower curtain and saw a man shaped figure, my brother and mum have also had the same experience.

5) Odd glows in my brothers bedroom and Bathroom (which are next door ot each other).

6) Sounds of footsteps in attic, has been checked for rats etc, no sign.

and finally 7) My Auntie and mum were having coffee in the kitchen when both of there cups flew off the side of their saucers and smashed (at the same time).

The only one I havn't witnessed is the last one (7).
Althought that all sounds creepy, I can think of loads of innocent explanations for them. Maybe your house is haunted maybe not, but I just think it's just easier to blame ghosts than think of an explanation, because we can not explain them.

yes
i saw a white flash dart across the hallway on a few occasions at my old house
the house was victorian and opposite a church
the basement was also creepy and a specialist said that there was something
which wasn't human
when my uncle was younger (he lived where a roman burial site was) , as he
was only a child he didn't know about the sites history but asked my grandparents , who is the man with the feather on his helmet.
