Cheetah Hunt- Intamin for Busch Gardens Tampa

Hmmm... UC's coming down in a few weeks... ECG's coming down in a few months...

I might just have to meet some CFers!! :p

Yesterday there was a hardhat tour of the site, and RCPro got some great pictures:

http://www.rollercoasterpro.com/gallery/bgtchtour/bgtchtour.shtml

And then there's this interesting quote from FloridaThrills:

What we've learned from today:
The cheetah pens are near completion and that there's 7 stalls for 14 cheetahs (12 here).
Theming will be incredible. We learned that there will be a section called the "Crossroads" where Morocco, Egypt and Edge of Africa meet. Villagers of the Crossroads celebrate the spirit of the Cheetah. Cheetah Hunt's queue will connect this village to the nature of the actual roller coaster attraction through an integrated back story.
Cheetah figures at the front will resemble driftwood carvings.
Inside the station, there will be a giant 15 foot high Cheetah Rock that will resemble a cheetah. Villager's celebrate this iconic rock because when found - it resembled the shape of a cheetah. Through chiseling and carving they've managed to carve the head of the cheetah into the top of the rock - the bottom remaining in its natural state.
Mack Rides is installing their air gate systems on Cheetah Hunt.
First launch will now be 38 mph instead of 30.
The Second launch will remain at 60 mph - accelerating in under 2 seconds flat.
Third launch will now be 50 mph instead of 40.

The Canyon Section will include a run-in with a waterfall. Riders will be skimming above 18 inches of water in a serpentine-like fashion. The river will be designed to run at a fast current in the opposite direction of travel to further give the illusion of speed.
The use of trenches in the design of the roller coaster is primarily to inhibit certain aspects of the attraction to pedestrians. Cheetah Hunt was specifically designed to interact with non-riders - and the trenches enable the trains to disappear from sight; thus intensifying the experience for spectators.
Parabola hill is 60ft. tall.
Cheetah Hunt will do a pull through with the front car and ride clearances.
Trains arrive next week.
Track completion expected by end of next week. 13 pieces remaining to be installed. Installation from this point forward will start on the Windcatcher Tower and finish at the crown of the "skyride hill".
May 27th opening date.

This is really shaping up to be awesome! I'll be at the park today and will try to get some more pictures of anything going on.

Good stuff CMonster. Those speed increases are full of win!
I think this photo along with the one in my previous post confirms that the coaster is definitely going over the Sky Ride.

Someone from TPR went on the construction tour and someone from Busch has "confirmed" that it's going over that there skyride.

The world is round, everyone knows this, but TPR wouldn't acknowledge it until one of their sources CONFIRMED it, and then they all act like its insider, top level news that no one else has.

I'm not really paid much attention to this ride so far, but it's looking all sorts of win with every new picture that comes along.

Very tempted to go back to Florida next year.

So, yesterday was an absolutely beautiful day, great day for chilling at an amusement park (and I mean chilling, my ride count for four hours was Gwazi twice  ).

Picture time!!

Er... I'll post the pictures once someone tells me how to copy them from Facebook.

Pieman in Texas Giant goes hybrid topic said:
If you're talking about the new silly theater photo viewer, all you need to do is hit F5 or take out the "&theater" in the link. Then you can right-click and "Copy Image Location" like always.

Really though, what was Facebook thinking?

Sweet, thanks!

Here we go then:

Nothing real new here, it was supposed to be a good shot for the going over theory, but you can't really tell in photos.

There was also some work being done on the second trench (right after the first drop from the tower) but I couldn't get any pictures.

^ i was thinking that, the lion is really cute.. :)

but also the ride does look pretty cool, looks like you might be a bit ill though haha

Great pictures CMonster, I think this is looking really good. I personally really like the layout and I look forward to hearing how it performs when it opens.
