We've reached a point now Marc where things like redevelopment have been on hold too long. Land bought and standing empty, or plans and investments nearing the end of their useful life. It's either go on with these projects or lose everything invested in the them and go bust anyway.

We're seeing an upturn in our industry, just a tiny one, as held developments start to move forward again. The hope is that by the time the development is finished, the worst will be over

Ah ok got you now.

Our business has picked up as well thank god, as you say I think people are just getting on with it now.

I also think that people are now thinking the worst is past and things can only get better.

I still think there is a long way to go though before the recession is fully over.

Yeah, it's been 'over' for three months - score. And remember what the term 'double-dip' recession means.

But, yeah, houses would make a lot more money than Camelot. Anything whatsoever would make a lot more money than Camelot.

I'm suprised it's taken THIS long (if it's true this time, anyway).

I can already picture the medieval themed area which will appear at Lightwater in a couple of years!

Surely it'll be a 'triple dip' recession if the figures show contraction again?

Passed yesterday on way back from bppb and place looked run down! With gullivers 10 mins away would choose that park over camelot any day

It will, yes.

My point being that last time the economy 'recovered', it dipped again after.

Yeah I just thought about how much Labour and the BBC loved the term 'double dip', but I don't recall hearing of a potential 'triple dip' yet.

Maybe they could name a rollercoaster/element after an economic course as opposed to economies constantly being liked to rollercoasters...?

Anyway, Knights Leisure have come out and confirmed the closure tonight.

Slightly disappointed. I never actually went there and I know it was nothing special but the fact that the UK has lost yet ANOTHER theme park is upsetting.

Hope someone grabs the Knightmare. As for the rest, meh!

Bosses at the park are blaming factors such as the Jubilee celebrations, the Olympics and the weather for poor gate figures which have cemented the park's demise.

....the weather?

Go talk to the owners of Funtown & Casino piers about weather being a factor.

Would have been nice to see if it did match up to the hype of being a complete dump, otherwise, as long as some of the rides are found new and better homes, I don't mind.

Nearest I ever got was stopping at the M6 services next to it and seeing Whirlwind. It looked...erm...'delightful'...

We've been here before, haven't we?

I've never been and I'd be disappointed to not ride Knightmare in particular. So if this is it I hope the coasters get a move (down south). Incidentally I drove past it on the M6 today on my way back from Blackpool. I don't usually think about Camelot, but today I did and it closes!

A theme park closes and even the fans don't give a flying ****.

That is the sign of a terrible, terrible thing.

Good **** riddance. Now move the rides to some competent place. Lightwater Valley needs to buy the Schwarz... Would be perfect.

Isn't the spinner decent, but just appallingly maintained? The only paces I could see that finding a home would be Flamingoland or possibly BPB, just as a cheap compliment to the park's coaster profile. I'm right in thinking that Knightmare is bound for Europe aren't I?
