What's new

Busch Gardens Williamsburg | InvadR | Family GCI

Yeah, part of the allure of GCI's is the head chopper elements, and they're clearly making a slight focus on this by adding a tunnel, near misses etc., so it'll be a travesty if it's blocked by a huge theming structure on the zero car.

I like the blue one. The bear one is a bit much. And they don't really fit together?

By 'refurbished parts' have they just... used Gwazi's trains?

That feels a bit cheap? I can't think of a time a Coaster has opened with some old, hand-me-down trains. Why are BGW so tight lately?

I feel like this ownership has just given up on everything that made the chain great. Their recent changes have made the whole brand cheaper and cheaper. We didn't ask these types of questions 5 or so years ago.

I have a big problem with the designs of those zero cars.

Singularly, they're ok? Together, they're gross.

They both have completely different styling and don't marry up whatsoever. I understand the whole tie in of 'forged with wood', but when I think of vikings I do not think of bears? The longship one makes sense, I get it completely yet it is somewhat on the large-scale, the colours add a bit of 'finesse' to the design and it all works together, then they plonk a wooden sculptured bear with absolutely no render on it whatsoever. It just doesn't marry up and it looks really really silly.

^ Almost as silly as making a 74 ft. tall family wooden coaster?

They both look pretty good IMO, but together they don't really "match." They seem a bit over the top to be honest though. But hey, I guess you could call this "theming." I like the dragon car better.

The unsymmetrical line of the screaming bear is giving me issues tbh.

The bear isn't bad, just such an odd choice. And yeah, as everybody's said, the two don't match.

Why is that silly?! There's plenty of 'family' coasters out there with heights and drops of around the same? I'm confused.
InvadR will only have a 10 ft. shorter drop and 3 MPH slower top speed than Prowler. At that point, why not go a bit taller and a bit faster to build a simple GCI twister as the park's first wooden coaster?

I get that, but, why do they need to do any of that? This is still gonna be great for the families of the park to ride, why do they need to do that little bit extra?

It's sheer preference that when building a park's first wooden coaster, it be a large, typical twister.

How about some construction photos showing how close this is to the train and the fort theme?!

Urgh, the vignette on all those photos. </3

I kinda like the look of the whole area though - looks quite nice I think. The coasters looks okay too I guess, but I can't say I'm hugely excited.
