Biggest Advertising Fails

Mega Poster
CW decided it was a good a idea to send me junk, so me being the over-analyzer i am, noticed that both renderings of leviathan had different catwalks, one on the left (true), and on the right (false). So i wondered, what other advertising fails are there? Post your fails below.

I swear there was an Alton Towers promo image that used Inferno from Thorpe, or something like that. Or they reversed an image of Nemesis. For the life of me I can't find it now but that made a few of us chuckle.

Six Flags' Bizarro campaign was rather clever combining events in the park and internet virality - but did anyone outside of coaster geeks actually pay attention?

Oh, jeez. There's a million of these. 6F is a huge offender, often putting a coaster from a different park on the front of a map.

Port Aventura use images of Maverick on a few of their promos for some reason.

I have always wondered would Cedar Point have any sort of issue with this and surely it must be easier to use pictures of Khan?

It seems like EVERY Cedar Fair park uses coasters that don't exist at their park. I saw a recent Cedar Point commercial and saw only TTD and MF.. and a Floorless.. and a wooden element that doesn't exist at CP.

They also use pictures of Colossus at Thorpe Park on their Baco T-Shirts.

Oh yeah I've seen that, the cobra roll is on the shirt, strange.

Haha, so Cedar Point don't use their own coasters in their advertisements yet other parks like PA do. It's crazy.

I think CP's new slogan of "Thrills Connect" sounds incredibly crap. And least "Ride on" was simple and sweet. There's another one of those with an invert that I can't figure out.

The way inferno's track is the wrong way round at the back of this poster always made me feel uncomfortable...Why did they make the effort to do that??

I personally hate the new Cedar Fair ads, because not only do they seem cheap/cheesy, but they don't even bother to make a different ad for different parks, I know it's more expensive, but would it kill Cedar Fair to at least feature a different coaster from each park for each ad?

The video production work is done in SoCal, with Knott's right next door, hence the B-Roll footage of Knott's for all parks, especially Ride Warriors.

I remember another piece of marketing material that I saw of Kingda Ka, where they modified the image so that it was a mirror layout, with the coaster train traveling backwards. Minor, but inaccurate enough to be annoying.

I think the best one I've seen recently was for Rainbow Magicland and to advertise their new stunt show they just showed clips from the Walt Disney Studio's stunt show. Well it made me chuckle anyways because it was so obvious.

^^^That Inferno one had me laughing for a while too, just why would they even bother to make it look that retarded? On one of the other posters Stealth has Inferno's restraints. Silly Thorpe.

Not sire what it is for, but there is marketing within Kennywood (posters on Thunderbolts Entrance fencing) that portrays Hulk from IoA and other stuff.

Will need to find the picture now ><

OK, that's just wonderfully stupid.

Someone showed me this from their recent trip to Six Flags Great Adventure.

I'm loving this thread...and half posting just so that I will get emails when someone posts something new :p

I personally think that Cedar Fair commercial was hilarious...cheesy and a bit edgy but definitely awkwardly funny!

That SF T-Shirt is amazing. I really don't understand why parks do this, I mean it's not like some of their staple rides have very photogenic inversions.

The one from SFGAdv makes me laugh, I totally understand if they wanted a Cobra Roll on for Medusa so took Hulk's, but not Doctor Doom's Fearfall. That's ridiculous.

Seaworld San Diego's official marketing shots for Manta are clearly just a badly shopped Intamin train, on B&M track?! It's not like Mack launchers don't exist. Plus, Mack had one of the cars (or at least a convincing mock up) on their IAAPA stand in January.

The above picture is still being prominently displayed on their website at the time of writing, even though the ride is due to open in 10 days http://seaworldparks.com/en/seaworld-sandiego/Manta
