I voted for Schwarzkopf because of 1. all he did to advance roller coasters and 2. Taz's Texas Tornado at Astroworld (now down in Mexico). That thing is my computer background, it is S-E-X-Y.

Seriously though, Intamin. They may have problems when their rides are new and they need to fix them sometimes, but many of my favorites are by them and at least they try different things. B&M seems to just recycle the same 10 elements, even though they seem to be using less of those stupid, force-less, boring cobra rolls.

As much as B&M have produced some quality rides recently aka Swarm and from the looks of it Shambhala, Intamin have got the edge with their fantastic Accelerators and their godly looking Mega Lites. As much as I would kill to ride a B&M hyper Piraten looks like an airtime dream machine! And thats without even considering the Aquatrax. As far as Mack goes Blue fire looks amazing, but I don't really think they have built enough to prove themselves, allthough Storm looks like it will be amazing once it's complete. Gerstlaurers are fun, but eurofighters alone can't beat Intamin or B&M. So for now it's Intamin, but considering next week I get to ride Oblivion and Nemesis for the first time that may change, add to that the fact that I also get to ride Rita and Thirteen, which I can't say I have high hopes for.

I just don't get where people are coming from when they say they hate Intamin restraints, aside from Skyrush. I personally love their old lap bars and most of their OTSR's are fine, my issue with Intamin is that they don't understand the concept of legroom, almost all of their trains require me to essentially fold my self up to get into the seat and I'm not really that tall (6' 1" with really long legs).

The OTSR clamp hard on your shoulders so much that they leave bruises and then you have the horrid neck chopping from the laterals because Intamin coasters age like ****.

That's where they're coming from and I'm only 6' tall, so not unnaturally outsized or anything.

Whilst Intamin can ber very hit, or very miss, the biggest problem for me is that I dont think they're coasters are built well enough for popular parks (from what I've experienced).

Would we all be winging about Colossus if was a B&M sitdown instead? Same with Indiana Jones at DLP. (although I agree that cost would probably be twice as much).

Sadly, yes, we would probably be doing that.

In my opinion, Intamin plays volleyball with B&M's boring ride's, with elements that has been repeated to death.

And the argument of Intamin's getting rough over the years, I can only say that I has yet to ride a B&M that is not rattling, and I have ridden quite a few of them.

I still have a really good time riding all the coasters I go on, and rarely bitch about anything like restraints, roughness etc..

We'd probably whinge no matter what - if towers finally decided to build an intamin woody through the valley, someone would want GCI, If thorpe built a mega lite - someone would want a b and m mega, etc...

Firstly, I'm on about the exact same layout, and secondly, I'm on about the quality of the ride, not whether we think its a great ride or not.

Ah, I see.

Well, I can agree with all that you say.
Some new generation trains would probably do wonders for the record breaker.

Schwarzkopf <3
Not a single one in my Top 20, but where would we be without them?
They haven't built a coaster since when? 1987? Yet, they still have so many in operation at parks & fairs the world over. Almost every one of them still runs as good as the day it originally opened in spite of being relocated many times over.
Still the best loops ever & as smooth as any B&M, if not smoother. I just can't say enough about this manufacturer.

This. Yes, I've been on exactly two. They're not my favorite rides in any regards. But if you have a 30+ year old ride still bringing people on and smoother than ride half that age? You HAVE to be doing something right.

^ & ^^ YES. I personally love how most of his rides pushed the limits in at least one respect. I've ridden five off the top of my head (Olympia Looping, Alpina Bahn, Montezuma, Zonga, and Revolution) and each one was great. I think that I would have loved Zonga so much more if I had been able to ride it before Premier got to it but it was still a wickedly forceful ride and I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Olympia Looping has to be one of the most amazing coasters I have ever ridden on account of how the layout seemed to be so effortless in fitting in such a tiny space and yet it wasn't violent or repetitive and how wonderful the positive g's were. Revolution is what I consider one of those classic rides that is not only a visual work of art but also a great ride if ridden in the front row to avoid any nasty run ins with the OTSRs. For his contributions to the industry I have to say that he added as much to the world of coasters as almost any person ever has with the exceptions of L.A.Thompson himself and perhaps John Miller. His rides are all capacity monsters and seem like they still ride quite respectably as well as draw in good crowds despite their age. If only America wasn't the sue-happy place it is and his creations could still be run in their original forms.

As in lap bar only? To my knowledge, Revolution is the only Schwarzkopf that has OTSR (that I know of off hand) in America.

^With lap bars in the case of Revolution and without the track modifications and hideous Premier restraints on Zonga. Some of the others operate with heavy trims also.

Although B&M makes the most comfy rides, I feel that the rides with the best layouts comes from Intamin. So I voted Intamin.
