Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Oh, Steel, prepare for the AT Fanboys to orgasm.

Hopefully now we can start to see sme proper construction updates.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Ooo, kind of vertical... starts to get a bit interesting now.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

I'm guessing that the gray beams are for the transfer track? They look like they would be.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

^ Or maybe the station building... Not sure.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Yeah, to be honest, I've got the feeling it's a building as opposed to anything to do with hardware fr the coaster itself.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

I can't believe how huge the site is, considering its troublesome location next to Oblivion. Really good stuff!

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

At least it will start to progress rapidly in construction once vertical begins which should begin shortly.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

And now we wait for the first fanboy to say... "I know what it is! The world's first giant puddle coaster."

Oh, the hypocrisy of this sentence ;)

That is one large crater they've got there. Is this going to be the station area?

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

The interlocked cobra part is the lowest section of the ride. I presume the hole being dug is to make room for that?

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

I'm guessing it's for the station building foundations etc...

I'm more inclined to think it's this, just because the station is nestled more against the trees, isn't it?

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

From my opinion that hole is mainly for the station and partly for the bottom of the cobra roll. From these edited things I created, one can see the hole is more towards the station. And yes to anybody who may be responding to this post, I have taken perspective into account. The blue trapezium shaped outline is the longest blue line against the ground.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Doesnt those plans propose the station being further into the trees, meaning some trees will still have to be removed yet?.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Yes, some trees will have to be cut down to make way for the station. And the maintenance area will require some cutting down of trees as well.

Here is one of many pictures taken today of the site. It appears some foundation work has begun with concrete and metal rods in the ground.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st

Ah, shouldnt they have already removed them by now?
What are the metal rods actually for, doesnt seem like there for footers.
