So nobody knows when its going to open? :x not even AT?

Got tickets for the 6th June booked it off work and everything. Lets pray

I am beginning to give up hope of it opening for my visit next on Saturday

Now I read on Towers Street that someone believes the ride is testing. It wasn't an official source though, but great news if it's true.

How was Smiler's opening day?

I guess The Smiler shows that it's ok to be pessimistic about opening dates with regards to a complex feat of engineering.

Hard though because coasters are designed to be exciting and thrilling. Thus it's hard to quell the excitement.
It's as if Christmas was given a physical form and had to be assembled each year.

Does anybody else feel that the momentum of this coaster has been lost?

With the 23rd May announced as the opening date, plenty of press videos/reports surfaced and excitement was building.

Then it failed and is unlikely to open for the forseeable. There'll be a lot of pissed off people during this half-term week.

So will they announce another opening date or open it on the quiet? Will they hold another press event?

It appears that many of us are no longer fussed about rushing to Alton Towers to ride it.

Tbh, I'm hoping it opens in June so the map I have that says "Opening May 2013" will be a bit of goony memorabilia.

That is one of the reasons I picked up a couple at the Live... just to be a goon.

But I do agree. Leading up to last Thursday I wasn't overly excited by the coaster, but was excited enough to warrant visiting on opening day. Since then, however, I'm just thinking I probably won't bother until Ghosterforce. I know I live only about 30 minutes away, but it's still a nightmare to get to on public transport and I'm simply too busy to piss about moving my plans about again.

I do think they have lost interest now, the interest is more about what is actually wrong with it that the number of inversions.

People will still rush back for it though.

This is EXACTLY opening on time matters.

If we're loosing interest, how do normal folk feel?

Well people at work did not even know it did not open they just assumed I went at the weekend.

One is planning to go this week so I told him so he's not going.

So the public, who don't check the website, do not know.

Yes, very much so! I have no enthusiasm left for this project any more. Suddenly the smiley face logo and taglines are irritating beyond belief. There's only so many times you can be let down.

I am starting to lose interest now I think. I used to check Alton Towers' website/Facebook/twitter every day for updates but it is just useless, I am bound to see it when it happens anyway due to CoasterForce and the amount of goons I have on Facebook and twitter xD

I saw this on the Theme Park Collective's Facebook timeline earlier and this picture they posted did make me laugh:

We're all forgetting the 50+ attractions that you can ride at Alton Towers.

I reckon they'll just do a soft opening and once it's up and running for a week annonce a media/opening day.

Assuming the press will want to turn out again. It's fashionable to be incredibly dramatic over a slight/common problem.
