A few celebs tweeting they're at Alton Towers for the ride's opening night. Seems those rumours were right all along, even if us mere mortals have to wait a bit.

Seems strange coaster groups were not invited to an event like they do in the USA.

It's not opening night, it's press night.

It isn't just celebs, there's TV there's too. It was a nightmare trying to get tickets to be invited, I tried my hardest with an "in" too and I didn't manage it. Ha.

They did the same with Swarm last year - had a "celeb" event I think the Thursday night a week before public opening.

Yeah I remember one for Saw and Thirteen as well. Jonathan Ross always seems to be there.

Yes, but the celebs are tweeting "opening night" - because they don't know any better, I guess.

Just updated that the ride is currently experiencing a technical problem. Saw's PR night all over again.

Tbf I'll take this and a week long wait as this gives them a chance to break the ride in gently rather than going in at full whack on opening day.

New ride so it's expected, but it's just funny.

Watched Blue peter now, tbh hardly any head banging.

Also with this breakdown it's to be expected, but the fact that celebs were on it just makes it funny. At least the ride op's get some extra training I guess.

I liked the Blue Peter coverage, I was rather surprised the foreman guy was happy to say 'it will go upside down 14 times' back in November though

^ I don't play the game (I'm not that much of a goon/overly-excited about the ride) but if you describe what you need photos of, I'll take some.

I know, I quietly chuckled to myself as well :wink:

I love how the Mirror newspaper is being overly dramatic about the whole episode. It's a new ride - they break down - that's what happens. Still...

The reporting is so horrendous, it almost makes me wonder if the whole thing is a publicity stunt. Hmm

^ I'm sure there was a similar report with Saw's shutdown on PR night. Some women had a panic attack or something. Plus wasn't someone concerned about riding Saw with there implants?
