Thanks Joey I know what I'm rocking out to for the next few hours.

I still want to see how they jam the queues and walkways in there, it's impressive enough they jammed that much into the space already.

This is the best shot, the only one where you can see the full sea serpent roll:

It looks like the paint job on Oblivion is complete now. No grey patches on the track going into the tunnel:

See it's the little details that matter, they all add up :D

Nope. ;)

It is where it is placed...although it could just be a general sensor telling the system where the train is?
Almost certainly, yes. It'll be after a high-point on the ride, or a lift hill (I don't know from that picture), so they know the train has cleared the high point. There are usually sensors around most coasters like this.

I've never been SO glad we were wrong about something!

Yay!

Best ride in the world on the card here. Never been this excited for a ride from Alton Towers, but this ride really is going to be something special!

It might be a sensor for onride photos. Vampire at Chessington is an example of this type of sensor being used for photos. Or it could simply be to tell where the train is for frequency as its not on a block section.

Whilst you're probably wrong, I will say that this coaster is probably one of most anticipated for 2013 - and it's very rare for that to happen in the UK.

Re: Alton Towers | The Smiler | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1

Whilst it won't be the 'best' coaster in the world, it's certainly one of the most unique. I can't think of anything else quite like it.

Yes, but specifically it will inform the computer two things: if the train valleys at that point, the sensor stays 'on' also, by comparing times between adjacent sensors, speed is monitored.

Well if they're unable to put track up due to the snow, they can work on the station. But didn't Gatekeeper continue vertical construction when the snow fell?
