Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Kinda like what Thorpe Park did with The Swarm and all those people in those silly skintight suit things.

I just read like fifteen pages of this topic, and... First of all, whatever the secret element is, I don't want to know until I go on it. Second of all, the name The Smiler sounds a bit lazy, and like someone went 'just call it that' - much like the placing of Rita it would seem (*given a map, closes eyes, waves finger over map* "Put it there" *Places finger*). The idea of 14 inversions to me sounds simply sickening. I hope the washing machine element isn't true, because I don't think my stomach could handle it </3. I'll try not to make a judgement on this ride until I have been on it, and not get excited or be annoyed by it until then. In comment to the public being idiots - the public are idiots. Rides like Saw and Rita and Stealth are popular because of the speed or the gimmick and not because they are good rides. Yeah... Anyway, I'm done now :p
14 inversions? Where does it say that? I've just looked and can't see it anywhere?

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

^ furie has said that it's 100% confirmed to invert 14 times.

PMSL! Nope

I said that in the same rumour I initially heard where I was told it would be Gerstlauer, it was said the coaster would have 14 inversions. Only rumour though and no fact at all :)

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Ha, I thought it could have been, it sounds like a very Furie produced line ;)

Is that wiggly bit just to the left of the brown box on the plan the path down to the base of the pit? Doesn't look like very easy access if so...
Looks fine - it'll be a fairly gentle slope winding down the hill. There's also a lower-level entrance from near Enterprise.

If you really want to keep it a secret to yourself, you ought to change your strategy.

Taken from the Towers2Go facebook page
Why is there never some random goon that goes and harasses them and refuses to leave them alone all day?

I had an hour free at school, I was bored, I was drawn to this topic... :L

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Having the actors out in London is pretty cool, I wonder how people found out what it was all about though?

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

It won't be as simplistic as it looks, there'll be some kind of leaflet they're handing out and/or PR staff dressed in the Alton Towers uniform and such. A lot of it is probably set up too for the photographs, because they'll have obviously had to fill out release forms and what not so they can be published online.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

They really were being serious with the whole helicoptor thing....

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Just an FYI, don't join up just for the photos because there's really nothing more to see just yet.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

I find all of that so... lame...

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Ok it's almost december and we really haven't got much on the construction site since the park shut other than more track/supports. I know vertical construction tends to be quite fast but if we get snow soon, does anyone think phreaps a pushed back date to April/May opening maybe better if they aren't completly finished.

LOL. Well I didn't see that one coming. Fools.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

I imagine that they build in flexibility into the build schedule anyway just in case of any mishaps. It's rarely an issue and even 13 requiring trims fitting after testing didn't delay the opening - plus it also snowed a fair amount that year too.

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

How do we know vertical construction isn't well underway? There is going to be a LOT of track for this coaster, yet there's not much in that picture...

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown Gerstlauer World's 1st

Well we could tell if we look at towerstimes images...oh wait, memebers only :x

Whats the point of paying that much to takes these images if half the population of coaster enthusiasts won't be able to see them. Trying to get more users, how desperate
