So...since CS and CTRs are slightly novel to me I've got a few questions.

-Which support CS do I download, Steelworx or Steel Jungle? What does everyone use?
-I'll be needing a 'winter style' rock set for the entry, if anyone has any ideas?
-Anything else worth recommending?

Thanks in advance! :--D

Both as both are useful. Jungle for the near all steel coasters with Workz being for mouse rides I believe

Steelworx is also good for inverts and loop/batwing supports. CoasterJoe for Intamins but it can be tough to work with.

I nearly always you Jungle, but it depends on a few things, how much time you have and how patient you are?
Worx, is great for people starting out with support CS, and like reddude333 said, its a great set for creating supports for certain elements.

Basically - Jungle is all individual pieces you have to put together, but you can make almost what you want.

Worx - Is more pre-made pieces, that you place where you need.

Great! Will try to install both as soon as possible. :--D Anyone got any ideas or recommendations pertaining with the rocks?

Oh boy, so many rocks to choose from. I like to use a mix if possible. Weber's Stone Creations are alright, very useful in certain situations but the textures are a little too repetitive for me now. Weber Foliage Set has awesome boulder/cliff things that have a great texture. Also like Weber Large Rocks...so yeah, it's pretty much dominated by Weber in my opinion :p

I know this is becoming repetitive...but I've had some problems downloading. :x

Since my coasters a terrain hugger, I'm not particularly concerned about supports, however what I do need are Weber's stone creations and possibly his Ice Caverns at: http://velvetskyemusic.com/RCT3_files/Rct3_Land_a.html

Here's what I did:

-Clicked the download/install button (do I need to do anything before?)
-The file was successfully downloaded, but oddly it's an Icananimate file (which supposedly opens with an animation software but doesn't)
-Appears on my downloads. Cannot find files in the game (where are they anyway?)

Is this because rct3 is in the F drive rather than the C drive? (Or something like that). With steelworx...I'm not yet ready to commence fiddling with my hard drive. :?

:? Please help! :?

Okay, I have just downloaded the set to see if its any different to other sets, here's what happened.

So I clicked download (Same as you) no problem.
The file appeared in "downloads" section of my PC, as normal.
I extracted the files there, using an unzip toll. (Winzip)
Then moved the extracted file to C;drive/Program Files/Atari/RCT3/Style/Themed

I haven't loaded the game yet, (DLC wont appear straight away if the game is loaded) but I'm pretty certain it will work, CSO normally appears in the walls section, though it can be found in objects or even terrain.

Until I can sort this out, I will not complete the coaster and unfortunately, I will not be able to play the game for a few days.

I tried your advice (Thanks a lot! :--D ) and it seemed to work. Rather than Winzip I used NCH software's free 'Express zip' and pressed extract to the desktop (which was seen in a tutorial video). Then I trialed placing it within the program files (x86), which was thankfully successful. However, I've been so far unable to find them within the game.

Do I need winzip?
Does anyone know where, specifically these CS sets are located?
And what file type are your CS downloads? (Which program do they open with?)

I will, therefore need a few extra days (possibly three).

Thanks and sorry for any inconveniences caused.

They should be located under the icon with the Chess Piece. If it isnt there, then check ALL of the icons as it may randomly sit in the Foliage one even (which is where some of my rock packs are located).

Okay so we have 4 in within the time slot, I understand people have had issues with this and that, no problem just get them in when you can, if they could all be in on Wednesday, that would be fab.

Just keep me posted on progress and when you hope to be in, cheers.

Mine should be in before midnight in England...was done last night but wanted to make a slight tweak to the video so it's rendering right now :D

Important announcement

Due to there being multiple things in the way of this round such as Christmas and New Year, people have fallen behind, and that's fair enough.

So what we're going to do is push the start of the Semi's a week later, this is easier to do as there's only 4 people to accommodate.

Sorry if this is an inconvenience and if it is then let me know and we'll work something out when we know who's through, to make it easier for the 4 people involved.

It also means all matches can have a fair amount of voting time,

So what do we think would be a good idea for the semi rounds?

City vs. Jungle setting. The higher seed picks which one they want to use, but both of the coasters much take advantage of the scenery. ie. flying between buildings or snaking through trees, etc.

I like the idea of the guidelines being the setting but I personally would prefer that they be different options. I have jungle far too many times and city (well, besides the fact that I've done it a fair amount [hint: Avengers]), I'm actually really not a fan of it.

I think I will leave my more creative and complex ideas for stipulations for the finals ;-)

^I like that idea...it can be interpreted in so many ways and I would love to see what people can come up with for it.

How about this?

More than just a recreation: Ever wished a coaster was slightly different? Ever thought a ride was a wasted opportunity which could have been ameliorated? If you were the designer what would you do differently- Would you just tweak the layout, repaint the track, incorporate an all new feature or completely change the concept and a new manufacturer. Eg. Th13teen as a B&M floorless or mega - lite?

However, we'd need to have restraints to stop entrants scrapping practically everything that made the ride what it is/was.
