    Biggest Failure

To be fair, it brought the people through the gates, which is what their aim was. But it still doesn't mean that it wasn't a dick move by Morwenna.

Alton Towers | The Smiler | Gerstlauer Infinity

Re: Alton Towers | SW7 | Unknown (Gestlauer?) World's 1st Thirteen's downtime wasn't due to the drop zone. It was due to over-speeding into lift two. If anyone's interested, the new scare maze "The Sanctuary" is actually really cool. The whole backstory for the ride should be pretty awesome...

    Loudest chain lifts?

Old Vekoma coasters have a great "whine". It's not just limited to their corkscrew coasters, both boomerangs and SLCs have the same noise, just a little quieter. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9tl-gUq51c The anti rollbacks on Arrow Coasters is a sound that I adore. Just sounds so loud, like...

    Best Arrow looper?

They're Arrow trains, not Vekoma. The same as the ones used on Drachen Fire at BGW, Cyclone at Dreamworld, as well as Corkscrew at Toshimaen.

Model suffers minor inconvenience at Alton, makes news

It really wasn't 30ft in the air. The car had stopped on the small flat section just before the lift. Pete went to Squirrel Nutty whilst they were stuck.

Zamperla Twister Coaster for North Korean Theme Park

Just stumbled across this on RCDB recently. Not huge news, but North Korean parks have always interested me, and I guess it's probably a big deal for them. The park, Rungrado Theme Park, appears to be new, and is now one of four theme parks operating in North Korea (all in Pyongyang, the...

    S&S Worldwide announces Japanese investor

Not huge news, but the little known Japanese ride manufacturer Sansei Yusoki is to invest in S&S Worldwide. Source: Park World Online http://www.parkworld-online.com/news/fu ... estor.html http://www.sanseiyusoki.com/

Alton Towers shorten opening hours of certain attractions

Re: Alton Towers shorten opening hours of certain attraction I hate to break the news, but the Acorn character has been removed from the Ice Age line up. Hotel entertainment has been cut back as well, and Wobble World will open from 12PM - 4PM.

    Height Limits

Th13teen's 1.96m restriction is to do with both the lap bar and the seat. It's a combination of whether or not a person's legs are too long, or their torso is too long. If they have a long torso, the seat will not support the rider's back enough. If their legs are long, the lapbar will be unable...

    Information on Theme Park Music

musicofmerlin.com is a good source for the music used at Towers, Chessie and Thorpe. I'm not sure whether there's much information about the music used itself, but at least they're great quality tracks.

    Colossus Roughness

Colossus and Saw both seem to have different types of roughness to me. Colossus has this constant "vibration" type roughness throughout, which gets worse at various points. When I rode Saw a few weeks a go, it seemed to give you the impression that everything was fine and smooth, then punch you...

    Colossus Roughness

Well, maybe rough was the wrong word to use. It's vibrates and rattles in a similar way to Furius Baco... Edit: It seems to vibrate in a similar way to Baco, but no where near as bad. :P

    Colossus Roughness

Does anyone know the actual reason why Colossus at Thorpe Park is so rough? Looking at POV videos on Youtube of 10 Inversion Coaster at Chimelong Paradise, it seems a lot smoother than Thorpe's. Is it the trains? The wheels? Just the fact that it's at Thorpe? The age? Thanks, and all that.

    Thoughts on Swarm

I found it to be okay. It was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. Smooth, graceful, averagely forceful and nicely themed. After first riding it, (back left) I didn't really feel much for the ride. I didn't step off thinking "That was awful, I want to start windmilling in anger," nor...

    Well, I never knew that!

They're called Aroma Machines, and it's true. Th13teen has them as well in the drop zone, and Charlie has "Smell Pots" in the Queue Line/Station Area, Chocolate Room and Juicing Room. You can see them on the wall to your left as you stand in the airgates on Charlie, they're silver "pots" located...

Intamin WingRide vs B&M Wing coaster vs S&S 4th Dimension

Re: Intamin WingRide vs B&M Wing coaster vs S&S 4th Dimensi I am yet to ride a B&M Wingrider or an S&S/Arrow 4D, but I have ridden Baco, and it was ****. You might as well just sit on a pneumatic drill. That's about right.

    Thoughts on Nemesis Sub-Terra

"Is that it?" Was what sprung to mind after riding whatever it was that I just rode. The whole thing seemed a far too short, pretty damn tame and soft. SPOILER ALERT! The whole ride experience seemed to be "You sit down, people shout at you, you go down a bit, you get molested by something, then...

    Revolution Makeover

Hanley is great! You can get incredibly drunk, very easily, and forget that you're there! Anyway, I'm starting to like the paint job more and more. Initially, I just thought that it looked like they had put the primer on, got bored and left it. Now, it seems more appealing.
