Now what I want to know is whether this was the one with the Space Cruiser spike coaster, not sure whether it's supposed to be on Global Dream I or II.

The Global Dream II was never more than a piece of metal. Barely more than a keel, scrapping that is a no brainer. The Global Dream is a trickier thing, it's a massive cruise ship designed for a company that doesn't exist, incomplete in a shipyard that doesn't want to finish her. Would she be finished she would be the second largest class of cruise ship ever built. Except for Royal Caribbean, nobody operates cruise ships this size (MSC will soon though). Global Dream will be a flagship of whoever operates her. Usually companies want something custom built to reflect their brand to be their flagship, not something made for somebody else. The problem is also that she isn't finished. Whoever buys her needs to more her to another shipyard (I'm guessing it will be Turku or St. Nazaire) and finish her there. The new shipyard will certainly be charging a premium to finish the ship.

Regarding buyers. With the right price everybody will be interested in her but personally I think either she will be bought back by a new Genting company or Norwegian Cruise Line. Norwegian is the only company with the ability to operate a ship this size who has in the last decades bought "second hand" ships. The Chinese cruise market is cold at the moment but if it heats up I could also see Global Dream cruise for a Chinese startup.

That Daily Mail report Stena as a potential buyer is nonsense. Stena fully pulled out of the idea in May, also according to my own sources Stena are not interested in launching a cruise line. It's just Daily Mail's awful journalism and trying to grab the British public's attention by mentioning a brand they might be familiar with.

Maurer has unveiled their next iteration of the Spike Coaster: Spike Fun. They are now offering trains with up to 8 passengers and tilting seats among other things:

Honestly, if Maurer threw a bone to a smaller park in the US and gave them a spike coaster on a discount, I think it could be a really big hit. This looks like the best coaster you could offer with this "Spike Fun". Wish we saw some more of the layouts.

While Intamin goes mad with new gen. flumes - Mack Rides have meanwhile discontinued theirs. No longer listed under products on their new website.
Allegedly modern safety regulations in most of Europe are making lap bars a requirement these days; so the need to redesign, and in general a decrease in demand were the deciding factors.
Focus for now will stay on continuing to develop their range of water coasters and the new Rocking Boat system (set to debut in 2024 in Futuroscope).

Bobbejaanland has settled on a design for the Indiana River re-theme for 2023. The park is going with the volcanic/Polynesian theme under the project name "Mystery Volcano" (whether that'll be the final name isn't decided yet). Belgian firm KCC Entertainment Design will be involved with the re-theme.

During the park's "Farewell Event" of the original Indiana River, guests were also provided a backstage tour of the ride:

The park has also confirmed that this re-theme is the first step in refurbishing that entire side of the park, with Oki Doki (Vekoma Junior coaster), Bob Express (Mack Powered coaster), the shooting dark ride El Paso, and the Wildwaterbaan log flume all receiving a cohesive re-theme in the future. In the meantime, Indiana River will remain open until the park closes for the season on November 13th before work begins on the re-do.

This is great - I think that area of the park does need a bit of love, and the fact they're turning their attention to it is good. The area they've done/redone with Fury is good for a relatively small park (Typhoon's station notwithstanding), and it's pretty obvious that some other areas of the park need some more love.

Wonder if they intend to stick to replacing old Arrow/Vekoma track or if they could think of branching out to tackle other manufacturers. There are more than a few Intamins that are getting up there in age.

French engineering and consulting firm E&S Rides is entering the coaster market with their first model, the Famility Coaster, shown off at IAAPA Europe. It resembles a Vekoma Family Boomerang with a bit more aggressive banking, and is apparently capable of using chain lifts, booster wheels, and launch technologies.

With the upcoming Euro IAAPA Zamperla has shown off two new junior coasters shuttle designs of which they say on the Instagram will have a "record-breaking number of launches", one has spinning trains which the other has standard trains.

So it seems like these have come into conflict for being ridiculously similar products released within 24 hours of each other. However, Intamin patented theirs and word from good sources is that they either threatened to take or took legal action against Zamperla once IAAPA had wrapped. To back this up, Zamperla has wiped any mention of the shuttle launch coasters from their socials. Interesting indeed.

Bellewaerde held a public consultation last week and unveiled a Zamperla Nebulaz, a Zamperla-made barnyard ride, and a new play area to go along with the planned Intamin rapids ride.






EDIT: The barnyard ride will be located in the Canada section in the tight space in between the Niagara shoot-the-chutes, the Screaming Eagle drop tower, and the Peter Pan flat ride. The Nebulaz and the new play area will be located in what's currently a picnic space next to the leopard exhibit, a short walk from Wakala.






The park is also planning new theming additions to their Caurosel Restaurant and new walkways over their giraffe and lion/tiger exhibits.

Walibi Holland has filed a permit for a new family attraction to replace the long dormant Go-Karts. Little has been disclosed other than it’ll open next year and take up this rectangle outlined here:



Said rectangle is 75 by 38 meters in size, and whatever’s set to be built on the land is said to be 12 meters at its max height. The Halloween attraction ”The Final Hideout”, which last year used the Go-Kart station building for the queue line, will not be returning for this year’s Halloween event so construction can begin on the 2023 addition.
