What's new

Your Scare Maze!

I'm quite lucky. Whatever theme I want to do, most of the time actually get's used and done. It's fantastic.

One thing I will say is, I'm sick of this new thought pattern by people that think, "Let's add a great story and theme for a Scare Maze, wait, that's too hard, let's just add a strobe maze".

Some of these work really well, but the thing is, it's been done to DEATH now. Yeah, we have one at Scare Kingdom, but, it fits in with the theme of our actual attraction.

I'm loving that a lot more unique and psychological attractions are actually coming around. It's great news for the industry. It's really growing in the UK and we're seeing some fantastic events.

Also, bit of insider info, keep an eye out on the European boom of permanent attractions at parks, there's a LOT more on the way.

I've mentioned this before, but the film Inferno (with some of "The Haunting") pretty much managed to capture the kind of thing that would interest me, and possibly make my heart race (at the very least, I'd love it).

The film's quite hard to watch and a bit obtuse, but towards the last half an hour or so as the building "comes to life" create a superb atmosphere I'd love to see captured.

I REALLY loved the premise of Experiment 10, but I'd like to see it taken to a further extreme. The isolation chambers, people shouting in your face etc, would be a LOT more effective if they could just spend more time 'working' on you. I know in the real world this isn't exactly plausible and they need to try and maximise throughput and that, but yeah, I'd like to see that.

You obviously haven't heard about this Scare Attraction. It's SO INTENSE and over the top I doubt even I would do it. :p

I've just came up with a good idea. :)

So basically you start off going through a short, thin corridor with some theming, before ending in a small square room with 5 doors. (Or more, depends on the max. party size) Nothing happens for a minute, and you wonder whats happening.
Suddenly five different characters come out of the doors, shouting, and one of them takes you into one of the doors, so you are no longer with your group.
What scene you go into is depending which character takes you. There could be a torture room, a nursery, a hospital etc.
For now lets say you went into the hospital:

You are led into a small hospital room, the walls are covered in blood, and the shelves are lined with all sorts of wierd medicines and tools. Inside the room is a doctor (the character that took you), a nurse, and a surgeon. The nurse asks you to lie on the bed in the middle of the room and puts a blindfold on you. Then you hear noises and stuff, and you feel cold metal poking you. You take you're blindfold off, and you are covered in bloody bandages. You are led out the room and left in another corridor.

At the end end of the corridor you see a small room, with a locked door. Your friends come in, all covered in stuff, depending on which room they went in. You are confused on where to go next. A friend finds a key in their pocket (which was put in inside one of the rooms) and opens the door.

This guy with a knife says "thats my key", snatches it off your friend, and like the end of Asylum, chases you about of the building.

Simple, yes?
I would never go in a scaremaze, but I love the concept of them and reading about them. :)

Sounds kind of kinky...I like the sound of it ;]

By the looks of it, yes. That is the only bit of the scare maze I wouldn't be able to do. What i couldn't see is an age limit for it. There should be with the bit with the naked people and the stapling.

^^Yeah. You sign a form at the start allowing them to do whatever they want to you. People used to put staples into each other at School all the time lol. Although they weren't tied up with a bag over their head at the time. :p

A scare maze Designed by Junji Ito... google the manga Uzumaki or Gyo. Now that would be an interesting thing to go in and also watch me break down again...

The age limit is 18. It says in the rules here:

Also here's a review/walk-through from a show they did in May which is completely different from the one from Halloween last year.

And here's a review from this year. He's not posting a walk-through of it until the event finishes though.

There is no way thatll be allowed in the uk!
The most intense one I've done in the UK is Masks. There the actors touch you, drag you away from your group, put you in cages and at one point even start force feeding you.
Tom Spindler did loads of scare attractions that broke the rules and boundaries (sadly he doesn't do them anymore). His most famous was probably Asylum Hill which was the first one he did.

^I could probably do it all apart from them pumping staples into your back. :p
To answer my own question as well, the staple gun wasn't actually loaded:

It wasn't loaded. But how was I suppose to know? They mess with you psychologically and its pretty intense.

^^I looked at that website, and it said there will be sexual situations in the maze... That is just weird.

My maze would be thmed to Scary Kiddie TV shows (I hate them an they scare me) where the main character is actually a killer, and is loose in the maze. Will you escape?

In response to all your questions about NYC Blackout... No, the staple gun wasn't actually loaded and plunged into your skin. That would be ABH, due to there being actual evidence and punctures to your skin.

Also, in response to the claim that it would never happen in the UK, you're simply wrong. It COULD happen in the UK. If you hire out a "Sex Dungeon" or "Fetish Club" venue, you're actually allowed to do certain things that this attraction does, simply due to them having a kind of filtered 'Sex Law'. It's hard to explain, but, in these two types of venues I've stated, to put it into childish language, "Naughty things happen" in them, whipping, gagging, stapling and much more happen in these. The law and police know it happens in here, it's actually licensed and legal in them venues, it's written in their planning permission. So, in theory (and reality, as I know this for definite), you ARE allowed to whip guests, torture them (to an extent) etc just as long as you're in a venue that allows it and that the guests have given their full permission. In order to give their full permission 3 things need to be done:

1) You verbally tell them what's going to happen.
2) You show them a piece of paper with the rules and explanation of what's going to happen on.
3) You make them sign a disclaimer form with the exact same information on.

Once these 3 thing shave been done, you can get away with anything you've stated.

I want that ridiculous NYC walkthrough in my life <3 It literally sounds like it'd make me it's bitch, make me crawl behind it on my hands and knees... And I'd be forced to love it.

Jesus, **** yeah. Want.
