What's new

Your 2012

There's really too much to write about my year, so I'll just give a few highlights & list what I did for those that are interested.
The major highlights were getting to spend so much time with Ian, furie & Hixee (one-on-one), meeting up with Taylor & Ciall at Canada's Wonderland, the lead up to the CF-Live with Jer & Kimi, the CF-Live with so many old friends & getting to know Andrée & Katia, as well as spending an evening with Alison (Sky) in Atlanta & another evening with Tom (tomahawKSU) in Anaheim. I also made three major trips this year - the UK in April, Guatemala in June & an epic America tour in July-August - and had the privilege of attending seven ride openings & that fab Outlaw Run construction tour.
I originally set out on the trip across the USA with the goal of riding every wooden coaster in America, but it ended up with the goal of visiting every park with a coaster other than just a kiddie ride. By reaching the later goal I also accomplished the first. :--D
So overall I drove over 37,000 miles, visited 105 parks, rode too many coasters to count them all, added 154 coasters to my count, got to ride 18 rides that opened this year & sneaked into Six Flags New Orleans - which was pretty creepy.
I don't think there will ever be a year that can match 2012 as far as numbers are concerned, but I'm really looking forward to the trips I'll be making in 2013.

Here is a breakdown of my year with the number of new credz at each park & highlights in the brackets.

My best coastering year by a long shot, I obtained 120 new credz in total, 119 of which were outside of the UK in Canada and the States.

Had a lovely time at Canada's Wonderland and Leviathan blew me away and is a firm #2 for me. Cheers to Jerry for the Fast-track bands too - really made that day a special and lovely one. Everybody has summed up the US Live and add-on well enough already, but I will once again say that I was in the most miserable and foulest of moods throughout the live which is not like me at all, and I can only apologise to everybody. I had a terrible year at uni and - although the trip was planned because of uni being **** - it seems I couldn't escape it :(

Met fab US CFers finally (and Andree and Katia), got scared **** less on Phoenix, felt very ill on Skyrush and was probably the only person who was with us for the ERT session that hasn't since put it in their Top 10, had a wonderful 6 weeks with Taylor and her family who were ever so kind to put me up and generally looking back on the Canada/US trip with fondness :)

Ghosterforce was fab as always, and finally getting on Swarm was the perfect end weekend to the season. Gutted my money came through 2 months late so I couldn't go to the PA Live :(

Next season won't be as coaster packed I suspect, but I do want to travel as much as possible if I can find the money to do so.

**** hell Jerry.

That is all I can think to say.

I had a pretty bad year, considering that I was expecting a church trip to SFGAm.

Lowlight: only SFStL this year

Highlight: American Thunder. All that GCI goodness.

Added cred for Ninja (SFStL) and I didn't break my neck while riding it. Actually thought it was fun.

Pandemonium was closed when I went this spring. Good thing I kept myself occupied with Reverse Blast and woodies the whole time.

Oh well, here's to a much better 2013. SFStL again, maybe SFGAm, vague possibility of SFFT and Iron Rattler.

...damn...

How do you balance work with all that travel?

I combine a lot of my travels with my soccer coverage. Work + play = WIN!

This has been an amazing coaster year for me. I've gotten the chance to ride some unique and exciting rides in scandinavia and northern germany. Really I'm just grateful that I get to even go on these trips, it's such a privilege.

It's hard for me to name one specific highlight, but coaster wise it'll have to be as seen below.

Fluch Von Novgorod.
Half Pipe.
Kirnu.
Salama.

But the overall highlight of the year has to be my biggest coaster trip yet, my Finland trip.
I was surprised at how easy it is to get around on trips, from airport to hotel to park etc. - the whole process of the trip was really enjoyable and our planning proved to work pretty good.
And then I just love to be on a these trips, a new park, city and hotel every day, it's such and experience filled way of travel!

And last but not least, thanks to CoasterForce for making this year even more awesome! - Best coaster/theme park forum out there!

Did pretty good this year, not as good as last year but it was a nice year for sure!

Cedar Point x1
Wonderland x2
Darien Lake x1
Martin's Fantasy Island x1
Lake Compounce x1
Six Flags New England x1
Six Flags Great Adventure x1
Knoebels x1
Dorney x1
Six Flags America x1
Hershey x1
Kings Dominion x1
Busch Gardens Europe x1
Disneyland x3

Knotts Berry Farm x1 (didn't get all the creds grrr)
Seaworld San Diego x1
Universal Studios Hollywood x1

So yep it was a nice one for sure, cba to count all the creds and such though. USALive and Disneyland were the highlights <3

It was probably the most quiet year for me park and creditwise. I was close to go to Rainbow Magic Land and two tiny parks near Bari in Italy, one of which had an SBNO Intamin Accelerator, yet never actually made it there back in the summer:/. I re-visited Port Aventura in Mid September which was really nice, hot +32 celcius (90ish F) and quiet, max 15min line (excluding Hurakan Condor which only had one side open-50ish minute line). Shambhala was amazing and made me miss visiting parks and riding proper coasters more often.

Seeing as how I'm still being a lucky bitch and whoring my work travel for every cred that I can while it lasts, 2012 brought me 33 new parks and 167 new creds. cool)

This year, my most stupid attempt to cram stuff into my busy schedule award goes to 'the return from Florida' in February, where I didn't sleep for about 2.5 days. Conference in the morning in Florida followed by a sneaky afternoon in Sea World, then a flight back to the UK, in work for 3 hours, before The Swarm Live and evening ERT!! Never again!!

I'll do the year's lowlights first :( ...

10. Finally going to Disneyland Paris and it being good, but disgustingly not Disney at the same time
9. Drinking two large cans of American energy drink and thinking my heart was going to explode
8. The non-stop rain in Norfolk
7. Cheetah Hunt being the most pointless and boring cred in history
6. Boulder Dash being not as good as I'd hoped
5. Having to carve a sheep's head as part of a ceremony in front of hundreds of people in China - and screwing it up!
4. Getting the car towed in New York and then being spat at by a tramp. </3 New York sucks
3. Writing off my own car (I miss you baby *sob*)
2. Crossing the border to China for the second year in a row just for the S&S cred at HV Shenzhen - only for it to be closed AGAIN!
1. But by far the biggest spite of the year was El Toro!!!!

Highlights :--D ...

10. Pax creds of joy!!!
9. The beauty of Bush Garden's Williamsburg and the classic American kitsch of Knobels (can I live there please?)
8. Getting to visit Inner Mongolia and getting my own police escort 150km to a mine!
7. The Harry Potter ride queue being INSANELY GOOD!
6. Asterix being fab and Zeus being an airtime machine!
5. Shambhala being totally epic (and PA being just a gorgeous park)
4. The hilarity of Norfolk indoor mini golf, aka Casino Sheep
3. Skyrush ERT and being terrified out of my mind
2. Discovering the joy of B&M hypers in my life (specifically merging Richard on Nitro front row)
1. The unexpected ferocity and total and utter amazingness of Phoenix

And of course, 2012 was the year I met a lot more wonderful CFers (especially all you guys in the US finally!! and the Swedes!!!). To you and everyone else - thanks for another FAB year - love you all :D

ECG blatantly put date and park on a seperate line to make the list seem even longer!

Anyway, I'm going to attempt a little 2012 photoreview...

It all started on the March 24th with an opening day trip to the Towers. Took my 15 year old neice for the first time, she loved it! (no pics)

Then over Easter we went to the big ghetto Fair at Yaaaarmouth. (no pics)

Then in May we too took a day trip to the awsome Parc Asterix! Which ended up being the busiest park visited I had ever experienced, only managing 1 ride on each coaster!

We also went to Adventure Island the following day for a quick visit.

Then in June we had an amazing 5 days in Madrid! Visiting a certain low-key park that ranks up as one of my all time faves!

Also in August we took a quick trip to Hunstaton, and visited the Rainbow park. This month also saw us visit Twinlakes, but I haven't got round to uplodaing the pics yet.

Then in September it was the biggie, 16 days in Orlando!

Then had a quiet spell for a bit before visiting the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland.

And that's for my little 2012 run down. Got a feeling next year is going to be quite lame in comparison.

I didn't even think about that tbh. Just thought it looked neater & easier to read.

What a difference!
Why was Parc Asterix so crowded that time of year?

My year has been incredibly poor. Two park trips in March, with 1 new coaster, and since then bugger all (except Winter Wonderland, but I'll be **** if I'm paying that much for a ride). It was also very painful to fly all the way to America and not get a chance to visit any parks, but it pretty much sums up my year - no time for any parks! Thus I have dropped off the radar somewhat here. Next year a possible Florida trip with family is on the cards, but I'm not holding much hope otherwise.

I just nabbed the six creds in Tel Aviv. There are no buses or trains on a Saturday because of Shabbat (what bull ****), so I had to taxi it from the place I'm staying to the first park (£20), and then from there to the second park on the complete opposite side of the city.

I decided to walk back since I wanted to see a bit more of the city anyway.

£75 down for an SLC (one of the worst I've been on), a boomerang (ditto), a Pinfari looper (again vile) and 3 kiddy coasters.

I find that so strange that everything shuts on a Saturday but the rides lol, I remember saying that to jake.

Still never set foot in Chessington, which I wanted to this year.

-Sent from a mobile phone-

Extremely quiet year for me again. Grabbed a handful of new creds, but no new parks.

-SFoT with RCF was probably the highlight. Grabbed most of the creds, still didn't get one side of Judge Roy Scream, Batman clone, and then Mr. Freeze. Didn't get the Boomerang that's going to St. Louis either.
-SFMM 2 times, one when it was absolutely empty, but half the rides were closed. No X2 this year sadly.
Sea World San Diego- Manta was a surprise, but that park is such garbage.

So yeah, awful year, hope to get some new parks next year.

New parks this year: Islands of Adventure, Seaworld Orlando, Busch Gardens Tampa, Disneyland Paris, Disney Studios Paris, Parc Asterix, Parc St. Paul, Jardin d'Acclimatation, Lake Compounce, Six Flags America, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six FlagsNew England, Hersheypark, Kings Dominion, Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Knobels, Dorney, Hemsby Fun Park, Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach, Joyland Amusement Park, Clacton Pier, Pavilion Fun Park, Baotou Amusement Park, Happy Valley Beijing, Sun Park, Beijing Shijingshan Amusement Park, Wicksteed Park, Billing Aquadrome, Gulliver's Warrington and PortAventura (plus revisits to Oakwood, Thorpe, Chessie, Alton, Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park, Happy Valley Shenzhen, Winter Wonderland and a couple of other fairs)

No new country creds this year, but new major cities: Milan, New York, Washington and Beijing (plus re-visits to Paris and Rome)

New US states creds: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia . As I've been to Texas and Florida already, that brings me up to 10 :D

New Chinese province creds: Inner Mongolia and Beijing

2012 sucked for me. I only went to Cedar Point for 1 day and only got 6 creds and no Maverick, TTD, MF, Magnum, or even Wicked Twister. Btw this is my 100th post :D
