Wooden coaster question

Strata Poster
I have noticed this more with newer wooden rides, and I have never known why, but why is it on some spots of the track there is just a solid strip of wood instead of the typical way the track is. Prowler is covered with track like this. I don't have a picture to show what I am talking about sadly, but can anyone help me out?

I'm sure it's just a platform for people to use as a step across, like maintenance or track inspectors.

But I know this question has come up before, and various different answers were given,so don't use that as gospel.

This topic has come up a couple of times before.

Clicky.

It's there to stop oil or debris spilling onto the track below it.
