I was just remembering the infamous Hard Rock Park fiasco and was just curious about the exact reasons that it ended up being a failure. So I thought I would just ask here. Many thanks in advance.
You go to Myrtle Beach for the beach and for getting drunk, not for driving miles inland to an amusement park. Bad location, bad advertising, too expensive = dead park.
EDIT: If you're looking only for reasons why it failed, it's on page 4 of the article. It can be summed up as:
- Bad marketing
- Bad pricing (flat $50 for entrance for everybody - even for 4-year-olds who can't ride anything)
- The park opened while the financial crisis was at its worst
