Which will be the first SW to be removed?

Both of those Dive Machines have Immelmann Loops, would Alton Towers ever add one onto Oblivion?

No.

You must have seen the speed it goes round the banked corner? Not really that much. Don't forget, whilst Oblivion does reach a high top speed, it has to elevate a good 100 ft before it gets to that banked turn, so unless they started the Immelmann at the bottom of the drop (which would mean excavating a massive hole and getting rid of half of x-sector in the process) I can't see it happening,

Rita will be the first to go. Let's face it, the ride is just plonked in the DF and doesn't feel natural to the area.

Considering the vast excavation and landscaping work which was carried out in order to build both Oblivion and Nemesis, I can't see either coasters going anywhere for years.

I think Oblivion is the least timeless of the three B&Ms. I think it's the best, but, I also think it'll be the first one the GP get bored of. I'm pleasently surprised people haven't gotten over the gimmick yet actually. That shows just how amazing it is <3

But, I think it'd probably be Rita. Which makes me want to kill myself.

However, Rita still has 5-15 years left before it's regarded as "OLD"...but coming last in the AT poll doesn't help.

But what could they replace it with? Another launched coaster?

They might, to compete with Stealth, but I would think AT would want something new and innovative for a new ride.

I would like to see the lack of reaction if Rita left, not many care for it I certainly don't, Nemesis is not only 'king' but the oldest coaster in the top 20 golden ticket, the shortest and only invert. And number 6 on the Mitch hawker poll... 6, now that is amazing for a poky little park in England, not nemesis, that will be there 20/30 years perhaps, air is nice but not as rememberable, and Oblivion, my beauty! The GP love it, even the little kid from diversity, who was on my car... Just needs a refurb and again, 20 years at least, and 13, as we've seen Alton abuses it's complex systems, like duel so I can see it slowing and decaying in 10/15 years.

Although Nemesis is one of the top nine oldest B&Ms, I honestly can't see it going anywhere anytime soon, the upcoming addition of What Lies Beneath? boosting its life at least another decade. I can't imagine Oblivion or Air closing soon, especially considering the fact that no B&M has EVER closed permanently (unless you include Psyclone at MM), so I'd probably expect to see Rita going before any of the rest. But I don't even think Rita will be leaving very soon. I think we'll just have to wait and see.

Why are people saying Rita it never was a SW.

I can see none of them going tbh as they can just re track them and replace parts that are needed. There are many coasters in the world older than Altons that run every day of the year rather than just March to November.

^ Of course it wasn't! Didn't really think about that, this thread should be renamed to 'major Alton Towers coaster' or something along those lines.

Plus Rita doesn't really live up to the standards to be called a SW, the temporary renaming to 'Camilla - Queen of Speed' in 2005 highlited just how **** it really was.

Um, what?

http://www.rcdb.com/27.htm

Built by: Bolliger & Mabillard

Facts: The Psyclone was the only wooden roller coaster with trains built by B&M.

I assume this is what he is referring too. I doubt B&M ever refer to this ride as being one of theirs, but they had a hand in it..

They built the trains, that doesn't make it a B&M coaster at all...

Also, I don't see many people riding Time Machine anymore.

^We don't know what will happen with Time Machine yet. There has been no further speculation on what happend. You never know it may be moved. And he was saying UNLESS you count Psyclone. Not MINUS Psyclone.

I would suggest Rita could possibly be the first major (its in no way a SW) rollercoaster to leave AT, I will explain. AT have a very restricted height ceiling as we know which limits Melin to a certain extent as to what they can build without having to dig, And the most popular option they will always have is to build with a launch, Accelerator/Multi-Launch/Blitz to name a few. But then too many 'Launch' coasters in one park could become a problem, as the GP will generally put them all into the same category and add to the fact it would become a marketing nightmare for Merlin with so many samey coasters knocking about the place.

So this is where the following could work well for Melin,....

1. Remove Rita from Alton Towers (Its not the greatest example of an accelerator, And Alton can do a lot better)

2. Install Rita at Gardaland, They don't have a launch coaster and Rita would fit perfectly with there target audience. Nevermind the fact that it would make perfect financial sense.

3. This allows for the final solution, *place various ideas for amazing launch coaster with Maverick/Cheetah hunt elements here*

^I certainly agree with the Gardaland theory and Rita would be perfect for GL! :--D

Remember, AT has just re-themed Rita so I can't see it going in the near future. However, a re-theme usually means that the ride is nearing it's end though....

If AT are going to build a new launched coaster then it'll need a terrain feature, like a drop into a ditch (the one thing I wish Rita had!), to be a really great.

Fairly sure Rita isn't standing in the way of the elimation of the Jews?

However, a re-theme usually means that the ride is nearing it's end though....

Except when, like Rita, a new ride means you retheme the one next to it so they don't clash...

If the Ropers have their way its going to be Oblivion. Could RITA get relocated to Chessington or another park that it would meet restrictions..
