WB Movie World Australia |"Green Lantern"| S&S El Loco

Re: S&S El Loco - WB Movie World Australia

^^ Oh really?
So they spent lots on theming then?
16 Million is a pretty large pricetag, so I really cant believe theyre going with 6.5 million for this ride. They could have gotten something so much better! I really think these parks are being cheap. Perhaps movieworld is planning for huge refurbishments throughout the rest of the park?
Lethal Weapon REALLY needs to get new trains!

Re: S&S El Loco - WB Movie World Australia

I think it's merely a case that it simply costs much more to build in Australia compared to say parks in the US, so $16 Mil simply is what it costs to build a ride the size of Superman in Aus....It's that same factor that sees rides in the UK rides with seemingly high price tags.

PS, where have you got it from that this coaster is costing $6.5 Mil...Are you just assuming it will be identical to Mumbo Jumbo?

Re: S&S El Loco - WB Movie World Australia

^ my bad. Yes 6.5 million is the assumption that it will be the same model as all other 3 el locos in existence. If it happens to be the larger model, id guess maybe 8-9 million dollars then? (without theming also I would assume)
And I got that fact from the S&S website and rcdb

The name is "Green Lantern Coaster"....alkdshaklhfajsdfhjasdkfsk

Im hoping the Coaster bit is just a marketing thing and the final name come opening day has the "Coaster" quietly dropped.

This was only just announced so the full images/video arent up yet...But a couple of key things

On the main site page http://www.movieworld.com.au/ you can see that the cars will be 8 seater, like a Eurofighter:

There's bits and pieces of POV on this video too, evidently they just chucked up the current TV commercial since it features it:

(Beside "Photos", click the "Video" link)

Looks to be fairly standard.

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

They dont even have any footers down yet do they ?

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

With cars that are likey to be twice the weight of the standard ones, there must some modifications on this? Most probably more trims on the drop

In person, the track on site has thicker rails, and is perhaps a tiny bit wider than Intamin track....

I'd expect some of the turns etc would need to be dialated so the G's stay in check on the outside seats (Eg that turn up from the first drop into the block)

oh god please no. If the ride had any more trims to it it would be horrible. Timber Drop is a good example of how bad this model can be when it travels at an average speed through the course.
Is the photo of the car just some cool rendering artwork? Because from the video it looks like its going to be the exact same thing as the other el locos, and if so, would it be possible to have trains like the eurofighters do?

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

Publicity image...The best part, it wont have the crap restraints, rather it will have lap bars similar to Kvasten.

The drop with lap bars only will be epic IMO.

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

^ Sweet, like the new 8 car trains as well!!
Will do wonders on the capacity.

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

^ Thats worse marketing than 13 :p

And wow, lap bars may actually make this quite interesting...

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

Well who in the world Created them Footers !
the coaster looks good.

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

I have to admit, them 4-across cars are actually pretty smart.

That article - LOL!

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

Also judging by the footers in the first pic above, then it looks like it's another clone of the original design, even though it would be slightly modified to handle the larger trains...

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

Looking good. I do much prefer these new lap-barred 4-across trains to the old ones. The trains look a bit like they took an old eurofighter train and replaced the OTSRs with lap-bars though.

I now have a reason to go to Australia at some point :p

Re: Green Lantern Coaster - WB Movie World Australia

^This is the dominant reason you'd travel to Australia? No way. <.<
