Wanda Hefei|White Dragon in Sky |Intamin Launch Semi-Shuttle

As we now have fabrication of this ride it seems like its time to get a topic going. And with the excitement over the Ferrari World coaster this looks almost as interesting.

The ride is an Intamin launched coaster with shuttle coaster like properties. The ride exits the station and launches into the loop before rolling back through the station and up the rear spike, a third run through the launch then fires it all the way around the loop and through the rest of the circuit.

The ride appears to have a non-inverting loop similar to the Ferrari World, Flying Aces coaster as well as a dive loop style non inversion and a banked helix

On site banners confirm the rides Intamin

With this, Flying Aces and the Hyper in Nanchang Intamin are having quite a year.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

Now I know why I've been putting off a trip to China.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

Wow! Reminds me of Flying Aces meets Tempesto meets Full Throttle! Love the concept behind this, but could there be capacity issues at all? Surely there'd have to be blocks before and after the spikes?

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

So its got like a Switchback style setup.. Never really saw the point tbh. Looks like it'll be good, but space doesn't look an issue here, so I can't see why they'd go for that kind of setup.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

Interesting concept, and I'll be interested as to how much additional time the multi-launch adds to ride time.

While I dont really get the point either the fact the station is the other side of the transfer track to the launch means they can run more than one train I guess. So as soon as the first train clears the loop they can dispatch another in theory

Of course its China so they will run one train anyway. But the concept works.

We have track on site. Interesting colour choice.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

The parks duel tilt coaster is also on site and going up. The very similar colours confused me for a bit.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

^Good that Vekoma are using their smooth track for this coaster :) I'm looking forward to seeing the tilt coaster the most; will be interesting to see what Vekoma can do with this one!

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

The Top Spin looks just like Ripsaw with the worm-gear-styled support rod.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

Just to ruin your day. As far as I know the tilt coaster isn't vekoma. It's Chinese built.
I'd guess Golden Horse as they've moved onto more custom designs recently.

I've always thought it was Vecoma too, the tilt coaster isn't a recent design? It's been built for over 10 years now.

My exact feeling, I mean at least a normal coaster cannot fall off the tracks...

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

1. Golden Horse are now one of the most successful coaster companies in the world. Ethically, they're scum, but they've done incredibly well.

2. None of their 208 (minimum, since there will be a lot we still don't know about) coasters has had a major accident. I can't even think of any minor accidents at the moment either.

3. Their knockoffs ride exactly the same as the originals, which isn't to say they're good by the way because they're not, but they're knocking off s**t to begin with.

4. The health and safety restrictions which China places on new coasters is HIGHER than in Western countries. Ask M&V/Gravity Group about delays getting their stuff open.

5. Anybody making ill-informed, tired "DANGEROUS CHINESE KNOCKOFF!!!!" comments needn't worry since they'll never, ever be riding one.

Re: Wanda Hefei | Unknown | Intamin Launched Semi-Shuttle

^ lol, was wondering when you'd see those comments.

I think it's exciting someone else is having a go at making a tilt coaster, especially a duelling one.

Ah, thanks, your unsubstantiated claims of higher safety standards and no accidents are clearly so much better than my anecdotal assumption. I don't think western media would bother reporting on that kind of thing anyway, so we wouldn't hear about accidents in the first place. As you say, I'm never gonna ride one of these, and I can't be bothered to find out more reasons why I shouldn't.
