Walibi Belgium ready for its transformation!

Despite Neverland Themepark Projects announced they will do the re-theme from the Aqualibi waterpark, Jora Vision seems to be involved in the project aswell. They posted a new concept art on their website.

Genuinely think Popcorn looks and sounds fantastic - the sort of ride that's right up my street really. I hope they can pull it off in the way they've described it, because then it'd be amazing!

A member from Dutch fansite Themepark.nl claims that he has found the constructor in this factory video from Mack Rides, which was released two days ago. He says that this digital picture of a megacoaster does look alot like the layout that was released by Walibi Belgium!

I don't remember the layout Walibi posted having a cobra roll in it?...
Well, nobody ever confirmed that this layout was final. And if the manufacturer is still uncertain, the layout most probably is also. This speculation comes from the general shape and the river crossing that kind of match what we know about the projected coaster.

On closer inspection, I think you are right. The layout has definitely been modified, but the scale seems about right, not to mention that in the video, the track and supports are yellow and red, just like in the plans we have seen.

Today was the final day of Aqualibi. Re-theme of the waterpark starts tommorow. Aqualibi will reopen on March 31st in its brand new Caribbean theme.

Other news is that Walibi Belgium has hit a visitors record. First of all, this Halloween was the most succesfull in parks history with 160.000 visitors. During the 2017 season, the park has had over 1.400.000 visitors. The best number since 1988!

Nice to see the park getting more business! Hopefully these new additions turn out well!

Wait, Walibi Belgium is a smaller park than Draton Manor yet still receives 3 major coastes in 4 years whereas Drayton struggle for new rides every year, How does that work?!

Probably because they get more visitors and thereby bring in a larger profit.

Strange as it may sound, no. Walibi Belgium had an attendance of roughly 1 million in 2017. According to Wikipedia, Drayton Manor has roughly 1.5 million visitors every season, 50 % more.

Then again, Walibi's investments haven't been all that high since Vertigo bombed back in '07. They might have built up a sizeable buffer since then, bought Pulsar to test the waters, got a positive response, then decided to go all in, take out a loan, and renew the park completely. Drayton Manor could be a little more risk averse in their investment strategy.

Well, they had Pulsar in 2016, but the newest ride before the latter one was Challenge of Tutankhamon in 2003.

If Walibi Belgium got over 1,400,000 visitors last season, then could we see them appear in the Europe section of the TEA report for 2017?

Depends really. TEA figures can sometimes be incorrect for various reasons, so TEA may say other parks have larger attendance figures.

But I s'pose in theory, with 1.4m visitors, they could well be one of the Top 20 most visited parks.
