USJ Hollywood Dream... Backwards?

Re: Those crazy Japs...

Also, not to be the PC Police here, but am I the only one who thinks it's a little odd that we can just have a racial slur in the topic title and nobody says boo?

OK cool, just checking.

^Best laugh I've had today. :--D

Re: Those crazy Japs...

Jap is racist but, it's kind of a lost racist term. Like how you're not supposed to call Gollies Gollywog or what ever.

Re: Those crazy Japs...

Edit: No idea why, but I quoted something from a different topic and it posted here....ignore.

I've changed the topic title to make it easier for people to find later on when more info is released/images surface.

Not really sure I've heard that term as a racist slur before...meh.

Yeah, it's like if I called you a Brit surely? Or an American a Yank? Or an Australian a crisp packet pervert? ;)

Anyway, it's another of those "WTF are B&M up to and is the industry really so short of ideas they're gonig for this kind of **** ?"

Then I remember that they're doing it at Thorpe and therefore everyone thinks it's a superb idea and the best thing ever  ;)

"Those crazy Brits"

So ermm, what does your engineer cap say anything about this? ;)

I'm just wondering if these B&M's will feel sickly, riding them backwards. To me, B&M's are quite sickly coasters due to them being too smooth. I have no idea if that makes sense to anyone?

So is this going to be the same as The Swarm and only have a couple of rows reversed or is the whole train going to go backwards? I think Thorpe have got it right by only changing the two rows as it will be a great off-put to some people and leaving the option of going forwards still there is the right thing to do in my opinion. I imagine it's going to make queueing and loading a nightmare though, considering there wasn't enough space for the front row queue in the first place.

I don't really get this sudden turn towards going backwards though - does anyone really enjoy it that much? For a ride like this I'd much rather go forwards. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets brought back around like Indiana Jones was in the future though. I guess B&M won't have to make any track changes like in that situation however, as the rides don't really have any tight or compact transitions.

I think it is just like swarm, just a couple of rows.

Idk, going backwards never bothered me much, and I still dont see why people wouldnt enjoy this. I can kind of grasp the whole Backwards=Vomit, but then why dont people vomit after riding a Boomerang (and its variations), Half Pipe coaster or any flat that goes backwards while spinning.

A couple of rows per train would make sense.

However, Hollywood Dream has a dual loading platform which I guess could be used to have a completely backwards train.

A couple of rows per train seems more likely though I guess.

The few backwards rides I have been on (not counting boomerangs) have all made the rides so much better. I mean take Colossus, it's an old racing woodie, but turning that one side backwards and racing, it is a completely different ride.

Using my phone and CBA to find a link, but they're apparently running a whole train backwards. It's only for a few months though.

Interesting. I wonder how they're going to work the queue and loading. Maybe the queue will split off near the end like Dueling Dragons and you pick which train you want. Unless they're just not going to care and stick people going backwards whether they like it or not.

I think Gavin already answered that. Since it's a dual loading platform, one side will be for the forward facing train & the other will be for the backwards one. Just put up a sign where the queue splits & problem solved.
