Not to mention that if that's a rollercoaster, it's about the length your average Big Apple.
Not really...ROTM looks equally short in reality:

Precisely. On paper, it looks tiny, when in reality, the ride duration is impressive due to the narrative elements and switch tracks etc. if the rumours are true and Gringott's has all of the (or even some) track effects and narrative elements, it'll be an above average coaster duration.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

Plus as there are scenes that will take up time as well. One of the trick tracks is a 40 degree teeter totter

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

^ Yeah… that was my point.

The thing is, just like The Mummy, it doesn't matter what the element is, it can't last too long in duration because that affects throughput, which is NOT a good thing.

There it is just with the track layout, and it is the one that I got discredited on....

Ah, not to me.. Mummy looks quite a bit longer (track length) as that other thing. That purported Gringott's plan is a bent figure 8 with some additional curves on 78 supports (outside the station and storage tracks). Mummy crosses itself 8 times and reverses direction twice and shows 106 supports (outside the station and storage tracks). If that's correct, it really looks like the track is pretty short.

If the scales are vastly different, then maybe it's longer than it looks, but it still looks like it'll be boring as a coaster. It may be the most amaze-balls dark ride ever, but as a coaster? That plan looks like crap.

YMMV

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

It was never going to be an amazing coaster but the technology will blow peoples minds , this is the most complex ride system ever designed

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

The layout just looks like a cred in a shed though. If it's so technologically advanced, do you care to share with us your knowledge and sources then?

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

Maybe because the screens and the other items arent shown on the plans. Source wise its HTF on orlando United, he is widely well respected as someone in the know. Hope that will do dear

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

The layout of the other Harry Potter ride is tiny as well and that's amazing, size and length ain't everything :)

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

Hate to Fly on Orlando United has given a breakdown of the queue line and its goes as follows....

"Welcome to Gringotts, well the Queue that is.

This is a scene by scene breakdown of the queue and may contain spoilers so be warned and read at your own risk!!

When you walk up to Gringotts you will enter the attraction from the side of the building, just to the right of the famed building front seen above. In this area you will find the main attraction entrance, the test seat just to the right of that, and the Lockers to the right of that. This breakdown your going to read will only focus on the main queue and not the extended queue or the ultra extended queue. When you enter the vestibule or scene 1 there are 4 ways you can go. Take a hard right and pass through a separate door off this room and thats the single rider line. Go up the middle and its actually two paths with one being Express and the other being norma stand bye. (Please note Express will NOT open with this attraction.) Its also worth noting that unlike the Forbidden Journey, the stand bye and Express queue paths follow each other vs having separate routes away from each other. The only one that has a separate path was in fact the singles queue. Finally the last path from within the Entry Vestibule is the connector to the extended and ultra extended queue which is on the far left.

Now that I've explained how the entry to the attraction works here is a quick breakdown of all the major scenes within this AMAZING attractions queue. You thought the FJ had an amazing queue huh, just wait until you see this thing. Between 50ft tall physical sets, live effects, AA's, Projected effects, LIVE ACTORS (YES its true, and they are their to take your money in this special photo op), Musion effects, and the list goes on and on.

Scene 1: Entry Vestibule, this circular room will divide stand bye Express singles and be the break off point for the extended queue

Scene 2: Marble Hall, a full recreation of the Gringotts Bank Hall. With AA's, 3 Chandeliers, 40-50ft ceilings and lots of marble

Scene 3: Vault Showroom, this room displays 4 massive vaults to its visitors on the right side as they pass through.

Scene 4: Security Office, this scene will feature projected effects as well as live actors to "capture" a unique opportunity.

Scene 5: The Goblins Hall: This long hall will feature faux rooms, goblins, and a number of trinkets...

Scene 6: Bill Weasleys Office, this large room with multiple switchbacks contains a large musion effect and a few falling surprises

Scene 7A: Lift Vestibules, this is a sorting area for the two lifts that will take you down to the depths of Gringotts.

Scene 7B: The Lifts, your divided between 2 highly themed yet motionless lifts that transport u from "offices" to rock engulfed vaults

Scene 8: Cart Station, after exiting the lifts you walk down a highly themed underground hallway and finish at the 3Dglasses station

Final: After the cart station and you grab your glasses you walk up a circular staircase to the center of the load platform.

I hope you enjoyed this breakdown of the Gringotts queue!"

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

I think this whole expansion is rather exciting and I can't wait to see it in person. It looks like the shops will be tiny again which is just going to mean more obscene queues just to enter. I know they're trying to keep to the books and films but it's just not practical.

Oh and hatetofly's use of "stand bye queue" instead of just "stand by" really annoys me. It's not a queueline with people saying goodbye to passers by.

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

3D glasses? Really?

The rest, if accurate, sounds great, but 3D glasses? There's already 3D technology that doesn't use glasses, so why use them on a fast moving roller coaster?

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

It isnt going to be anything that quick, but 3D glasses seems certain. It is on multiple websites

Re: Universal Studios Florida | Unknown | Unknown

I read 3d glasses as well when the project was 1st announced.

It was never going to be a fast coaster, it's more about the visuals and the special track sections.

The other ride is a long way from a roller coaster. It didn't need to be 3000-plus-feet long to be exciting, what with being tossed and twisted in every direction during the whole ride.

The bank vault car DID move fast, in both books and movie. To have a slowly moving ride with well executed show scenes is fine, but why bother using a roller coaster system if it isn't going to move fast?
