This thing is absolutely ridiculous. It goes on for ages for such a small ride and there seems to be airtime everywhere with how that train gets flung over the hills, especially the first one. It's great how after the first over bank the transition is weird because they had to dodge another support due to how crammed it is, what a cool little ride.

I cant quite understand why everyone is wetting themselves over this... it looks good, but nothing spectacular.

A short report from my recent trip up to Stockholm to ride Twister before everyone else :D

Gltwister_02.jpg

We arrived Sunday morning at the park

Gltwister_03.jpg

Got walked to a café for some early morning snack and introduction about the day

On our way to Twister

Gltwister_08.jpg

Since Twister weren't ready at this point they opened Kvasten for us (running really slow)

Gltwister_10.jpg

And Jet Line, which were running as a bat out of hell, they had added 50 kg weights in all footwells (700 kg in total) so that it wouldn't stall in the cold, this with a full train meant that it flew through the course, and since it ran almost without any slowdowns on the MCBR's it were completely insane!!

Gltwister_24.jpg

While we are on the subject about insanity!!

3 different coasters within inches from each other

A really impressive skyline for such a small park...

Here is a long review of the ride based on my 10+ rides a few days ago:
To describe it in a single word then it would be "Tight", everything is just shoehorned into place.
The ride is really smooth, just one hill that is a bit strange, it offers a great mix of speed, airtime and an out of control feeling. It's basically a perfect mix of what a wooden coaster should be. Yes some places are a bit slow, it's not long or high enough for some, but seeing all the constraints and the tiny space they had available then it's just an amazing achievement, and there is a lot of similar size coasters (Vekoma Juniors, Gerstlauer Bobsleds, etc.) that is noway near as thrilling as Twister is...

Trains looks a bit funky, but they ride great, no idea on how fast they will load once the ride opens, since they were operating the ride completely manual (pulling the locks by hand and having a guy underneath the station to disable the brakes, and another one to start the lift motor... :p ) but it could be a real winner, the restraints are perfect, seats are spot on, lots of legroom, really comfy. I prefer these to the Millenium Flyers since they offer a lot better lateral supports...

The ride bit by bit:
Lift: steep and fast, you can touch the underside of the turn above it in the beginning :)
Drop: really nice and tight, great ejector in the back as you get whipped over the top.
First hill: really fast and delivers strong floater everywhere.
Fan turn: like the first hill but on a turn.
Just after the turn you can see the track shuffle quite a bit sideways, it do that to clear the other rides around it.
Hill before turnaround: ejector both front and back.
Twisty hill: strange and extremely tight, should have been even tighter to ride well, ejector in the back.
Hill before plateau: ejector in the front, not in the back due to slow down.
Hill after plateau: insane ejector in the back, and you will hit that piece of plexi glass that is mounted on Jet Line :p
Double up: ejector in the front.
Drop of second plateau: ejector in the back.
Twisty bit: kind of boring, but way better then a straight section into the final turn.
Drop into final turn: once again ejector in the back.
Brakes!!

According to Korey then it's still running about 8 seconds slow compared to their simulations, so Twister might be even better once it have done more than 10 goes and the temperature is way higher...

A big than you to everyone that made this possible!!!!

Thanks for the PTR loefet!

I get the feeling this is the black horse that will take everyone's top 10's by surprise. Look forward to seeing more reviews.

Nice. This thing looks nuts, and it almost seems endless for the size constraints it had to be built into.

^ It really feels a bit like it as well, especially when you are waiting in the station for the train to return, you are like "ah it returned to the station" when the train starts it's second half of the track...

Twister opened yesterday with the rest of the park, ice hockey legend Börje Salming got the honours to cut the red ribbon and declare the ride officially opened. According to some of the comments on the Gröna Lund FB page then the queue got around 2+ hours long!!

^ For good reason!

Again, amazed by the sheer size of the layout for such a compact space.

I really REALLY love the white-ish steel supports, the awesome southern yellow pine and then the red rails. Its a stunning contrast and looks so awesome. So glad it rides just as awesome as well.
