I was a bit worried a while back hearing that Top Thrill Dragster might be receiving OTSR's. Do you think they'll be doing so? I think they'll be getting them, most likely in the year 2007. I'm really hoping they don't since it's one of the only Intamin Accelerator with T-bars.

If you think it'll be getting them, when do you think that will happen? As I said, I think it will be in 2007. At least if this is true I have one more year to ride Dragster without over the shoulder restraints.

It's not the only one, xcellerator has them too. Why would xcellerator have OTSRs if the ride after it has T-bars?

And yeah, I'm imagining it will get OTSRs as soon as the park can be bothered to change them.

^ A matter of great safety wouldnt be something that would come down to "we cant be arsed", lets face it, if the restraint fails for any reason, they'll be really arsed then!

I'd say no, unless these Intamin T-Bars prove to be more risky, otherwise, I think they'll just take extra care in pushing bars down, and put extra restrcitions on fat people.

So hopefully not, at least, hopefully not before I go there in four years! ;)

Well, as long as CP keeps up with its great job of inspection when it comes to having your restraints properly fastened, I don't see any need for CP to replace them with OTSRs. I mean, they literally staple ya into the seat with the seat belt and lap bars.

Also, when you look at it through physics, there truely isn't all that much airtime to throw you out of the car. I mean, sure, you experience a small bit of floater time, but with how tightly fastened you are into the car, it would take a lot more negative g's to get you tossin outta the car.

Apparently, the source was wrong, as it was said quite a while back - so Staple-You-Into-The-Seat-Lap-Bar-Lovers rejoice, and OTSR lovers cry.

God, you've become like, the official CF Cedar Point (and their fanboys and girls) and Top Thrill Dragster disser. The only reason the OTSR lovers (and Ka fanboys) are crying is because TTD's restraints will always be better than KK's (haha). Sorry to get a bit off topic.

Even though the source was proven wrong, it could always still be a possibility for the next, let's say, 5 years. What kind of source did you hear that rumour from anyway?

As what everyone has said, barring some incident, TTD and MF will continue to have lapbar restraints. CP has a fantastic matienence and ride operations staff, so the possibility of such accidents happening is minimal at best.

And how would you know... you havent ridden it...

I doubt they would change it, only if something bad happens or Intamin tells them to, then yes.

Its a no for me.

UC, would you be a tad scared if I changed my CF username to "I love Ultimate Coaster he r0x the big one"?

Well unless they've had major safety issues I can't see TTD getting OTSR's cause having the lap-bars is what makes it such a unique experience, and that's why it gives so much airtime.

UC, you can deny doing it all you want, but this is the way I'm taking it. Stop rubbing my coaster count in my face, okay? Do it again and I'll get a mod.

Anyways, the KK fanboys crying since TTD has better restraint things was a joke, so if you didn't take it as one, that's your own fault.

Ross, you can tell me I'm being a n00b, but look at you. You're always spamming now.

I've always thought that TTD's restraints look like they pin you down pretty tight. Of coruse, i've never ridden the damn thing (nor do i really want to now even mini-Ka is said to own it...) so i can't say for sure. I'd like to know the opinion of more people who've ridden both.

Lets face it. While i'm sure TTD is a great thrill, when people are saying Stealth is better you've got to consider the facts. Taylor - you really, really need to learn to be able to criticise or at least accept some critcisms to your beloved Dragster.

Unbias and considerate views, looking at both aspects (positive and negative) are so much easier to deal with. You're persistance is sheer annoying.

T-bars look lame to me. But hey, maybe one day i'll actually find out for sure.

EDIT: Sorry CedarPoint6, was typing too long. Blarg. Sorry dude.

Who's said Stealth is better then TTD? Haven't heard that one yet.

To be honest, I've talked to more people that prefer TTD over KK. I've seen pretty strong arguments for and against, so I think it's one of those things that you can't just say is better... like saying Alpengeist is better then Silver Bullet. That's pretty much a given. I think this can go both ways depending on your preference.

You just have to have ridden both...

As you said, it's about preference. To me, a launched coaster is about the launch and by the stats... that automatically makes Stealth better.

But Chris (Infernus) and Ian both claim that Stealth is better. That it it's shorter and sharper.

Of coruse, theres a lot of other things to consider when rating a coaster overall. And for that, you need to have ridden both a good few times.

Like what?

Yeah. Well... theres lots of different types of 'better' and then theres the personal preference. And like you said it's personal preference. But i guess if you liked clashing colour schemes you'd go for Silver Bullet - i 'unno. But i know when i rate a coaster and give my honest opinion, i consider everyhting. I havn't really payed much attention to Silver Bullet. I took one look at it's colour scheme and my eyes bleed - but from photos and on rides, i can't honestly see whats so good about Alpengeist. Until i ride it, i won't know for sure. But i am damn intitled to say state my opinion even if i havn't ridden it based on other resources and previous knowledge and understanding.

If you think that you have to have rode somthing to give your opinion, then we might as well give up now. I highly doubt i've havn't ridden one coaster on your count and you've not ridden a single i have. Thus, how can we even begin to disguss coasters together?

You can judge before you ride. That's what life's about. Judgements.

EG: ll never go on an enterprize again. Because based on previous knowledge, i don't like them.

You need to broaden your mind son! Launchers aren't just the launch.

TTD: 30mph p/s
Stealth: 31.8mph p/s

Not exactly a hardcore reason to make Stealth better then TTD. 1.8mph p/s isn't THAT huge of a difference. This is without the fact that TTD goes 40.5mph faster then Stealth.. and if you want to bring height into the picture, 220ft taller.

Now if you want huge acceleration differences, check out these stats:

Kingda Ka: 36.6mph p/s
Storm Runner: 36mph p/s

Now if Stealth had Ka's accel over TTD, I could let that slide, but being the fanboy that I am, I couldn't let it go without a fight. :)
