2. Shambhala
3. Helix
4. Dragon Khan
5. Nemesis
6. The Smiler
7. Swarm
8. Velocity
9. Jubilee Odyssey
10. Rage

Daemonen comes in at 9. That'll be it for the while.

1. Balder
2. Shambhala
3. Helix
4. Dragon Khan
5. Nemesis
6. The Smiler
7. Swarm
8. Velocity
9. Daemonen
10. Jubilee Odyssey

1. Balder
2. Shambhala
3. Helix
4. Dragon Khan
5. Nemesis
6. The Smiler
7. Swarm
8. Superman/La Atraccion De Acero
9. Batman La Fuga
10. Velocity

Superman was very good, more forceful than expected in places and just generally fun to ride. Batman was good, relentless, flies through the second half but possibly just a bit too strong to go any higher.

My current top ten, which is pretty lame as I haven't been to many parks yet. It'll be interesting to revisit this at the end of the year though after visits to PortAventura and hopefully Efteling...

1. Nemesis
2. Saw
3. Wild Mouse (BPB)
4. Swarm
5. Avalanche (BPB)
6. Grand National
7. Colossus (Thorpe Park)
8. Shockwave (Drayton Manor)
9. Revolution (BPB)
10. Cyclone (Coney Island)

1. Helix (Liseberg)
2. Shambhala (PortAventura)
3. Silver Star (Europa Park)
4. Expedition GeForce (Holiday Park)
5. Black Mamba (Phantasialand)
6. Junker (PowerPark)
7. Cú Chulainn (Tayto Park)
8. Joris en de Draak (Efteling)
9. Troy (Toverland)
10. Dragon Khan (PortAventura)

Shambhala was my most anticipated coaster since forever, so I was very scared it was going to disappoint me. And it sort of did, but it's still an amazing coaster. The first ride I had on it in the second row was incredible and pretty much what I expected from it. The day after I got a bunch of middle row rides and it was really lacking in airtime. I even considered not placing it in my top 10 at all. Then I got a couple of front and back row rides I went back to adoring it. Seat assignment slightly ruins this coaster, because it's really only incredible in the first and last two rows.

Silver Star has slightly stronger airtime, but Shambhala is smoother, more refined, more varied, much better first drop, has a nicer location and better theming. It was really difficult to choose because in all honestly they are about equally good in their own way, but I'll give Shambhala the edge because it's so beautiful.

Now Dragon Khan is the real surprise. I didn't think I'd love it this much at all. Can't see why people say it's rough, it ranges from very smooth to decently smooth depending on where you sit, and it's so forceful and intense. It also has a great length. It ticks all the boxes of how a multi-looper should be like. Love it <3

The other coasters on the trip don't really come close. Baco has an underwhelming launch (Gerst rolling launches are so much better!) and is rough and dull all the way through. Stampida isn't rough at all, but doesn't do enough to really be more than an average woodie. The Tibidabo vekoma is wonderful though. Great smooth family coaster with a fantastic view.

Went to Hansa-Heide and wasn't disappointed:

1. Helix -Liseberg
2. Expedition GeForce - Holiday Park
3. Schwur des Kärnan - Hansa Park
4. Junker - Power Park

6. Dragon Khan - Port Aventura
7. Piraten - Djurs Sommerland
8. Juvelen - Djurs Sommerland
9. Tornado - Bakken
10. Fluch von Novgorod - Hansa Park

Although I had read about it, both Kärnan and Fluch surprised me with the immersive theming! If Kärnan was a smooth as EGF, it could have taken the 2. place, but I still prefer EGF's first drop. Flug der Dämonen was silky smooth and super fun every time we rode it (I think a total of 10 times!).

Still one more day at Carowinds! Dash is no longer my number one after nearly a decade as my top ride. Crazy fun.

With a new number 1 and 3, my trip was a huge success, and, yes, Lightning Rod is that good (being on the first enthusiast ERT helped). New in bold.

2. Outlaw Run
3. Goliath (SFGAm)
4. Bizarro (SFNE)
5. Boulder Dash
6. The Voyage
7. El Toro
8. Maverick
9. Banshee
10. Storm Chaser

New additions in bold.

Marc, I was loving your top ten until I spotted Banshee. I still have no idea what the hype is for that ride or why people think it has so much to offer. And, you've been on Fury, right? Or am I mistaken? If so, dafuq is Banshee doing above it!?

^Not everyone loves the same thing remember. I feel the same about Banshee compared to Fury as well. Both are great rides but the G's on Banshee make it superior in my opinion. Of course, looking at my top coasters, you can tell why that's the case.

But.. moving onto my Top 10ish since the US Live is now completed! Bold is new. Italicized is moved.

1 Lightning Rod - Dollywood
2 Boulder Dash - Lake Compounce
3 El Toro - Six Flags Great Adventure

29 Goliath - Six Flags Over Georgia
30 Wildfire - Silver Dollar City

I only added 5 creds on this trip and was able to get 4 in my Top 30, including a brand new #1 coaster. That's a good time right there. :)

^Whut?

Like, what?

You know Ravine Flyer II is bollocks now right.

And like, Evel Knievel above Fury...? And Skyrush...?

There's some explaining required here.

Ben, do keep in mind I try not move rides until I ride them again. The only real exception is a new cred where others may move down.

I was however on RFII last year and it was just as good as it has always been. I may be back this year but I doubt it. Same with EK. Superman did drop however after re riding it last year and evaluating it's spot in my list this year.

I sort of explained Fury earlier but I can elaborate. The ride is great (don't take being lower than the Top 10 as a bad sign.. really 11-30 are not separated by leaps and bounds) but as I prefer stronger G forces, especially airtime, the swooping and diving on the ride just didn't blow me away, especially in comparison to the G's I got on other rides above it such as Lightning Run, Banshee, and Afterburn (all of which were running fantastic).

It's by far the best B&M Hyper but I've never truly been fond of that ride type, even if Fury doesn't fit the true mold of the standard Hyper. Strong ejector airtime combined with laterals are my cup of tea with some exceptions for ride experience (TTD, Cornball, X2, ect). My Top 10 is very reflective of these feelings which is what I mentioned in my post before.

The ONLY real exception within my list is SkyRush, which caused me physical pain due to the placement of the restraints. It would seem those with smaller thighs tend to be ok but my legs were pinned right between two muscles within my quad, causing a large amount of pain. Worst part, without that pain, it would definitely be in my Top 10.

1 Lightning Rod - Dollywood
2 Boulder Dash - Lake Compounce
3 El Toro - Six Flags Great Adventure
4 Goliath - Six Flags Great America
5 Voyage - Holiday World
6 Outlaw Run - Silver Dollar City
7 Ravine Flyer II - Waldameer
8 Maverick - Cedar Point
9 Storm Chaser - Kentucky Kingdom
10 Phoenix - Knoebels

11 Cornball Express - Indiana Beach
12 Boardwalk Bullet - Kemah Boardwalk
13 Wicked Cyclone - Six Flags New England
14 Top Thrill Dragster - Cedar Point
15 Banshee - Kings Island
16 Superman The Ride - Six Flags New England
17 Afterburn - Carowinds
18 Lightning Run - Kentucky Kingdom
19 X2 - Six Flags Magic Mountain
20 Evel Knievel - Six Flags St. Louis
21 Prowler - Worlds of Fun
22 Fury 325 - Carowinds
23 Thunderbird - Holiday World
24 Superman Krypton Coaster - Six Flags Fiesta Texas
25 SkyRush - HersheyPark
26 Patriot - Worlds of Fun
27 Talon - Dorney Park
28 Tatsu - Six Flags Magic Mountain
29 Goliath - Six Flags Over Georgia
30 Wildfire - Silver Dollar City

Yah obviously everyone loves different things, which is why I'd never critique someone's top ten for being what it is. I was just curious about the justification for Banshee being so high. Actually, my opinion of it is the unpopular opinion (that it's a bit crap), so maybe something is wrong with me :p . But, I didn't find it anywhere near the same league as Montu and Nemesis.

Moving on to your top thirty (which, I don't even know how people keep a top thirty, I struggle to do ten)... The top ten is pretty solid, but RFII is where I am getting confused with everyone. It has like, two pops of airtime and the rest is just meh. I mean, back in 2009 it was great, I just feel like the quality has dimished from 2009 to last year when I rode it. Maybe we caught it on a bad day though, who knows.

ALSO, I remember you disliking Skyrush for your thighs, but then what about Lightning Run? That hurt the crap out of my legs and I actually had bruises, but my thighs aren't nearly as big as yours (not saying you're Mr. Thunder thighs or anything, but you're a man and fairly muscular so yours are definitely larger) so how did Skyrush hurt you and not me, but Lightning Run hurt me and not you? WEIRD.

Superman: Ride of Steel and Fury are really low IMO, but that just comes down to opinion I guess. I didn't like S:RoS the first time as much as I loved it last year so I guess it's somewhat justified :p

First Top 10 list for me!

1: Boulder Dash - Lake Compounce
2: Outlaw Run - Silver Dollar City
3: Kumba - Busch Gardens Tampa
4: Thunderation - Silver Dollar City
5: Maverick - Cedar Point
6: Wicked Cyclone - SFNE
7: Raptor - Cedar Point
8: Bizarro - SFNE
9: Superman Krypton Coaster - SFFT
10: Millennium Force - Cedar Point

N.B. I haven't ridden Kumba since 2002.

Got two waterside additions to the wooden top ten I thought I'd share:

1. Outlaw Run, Silver Dollar City
2. The Voyage, Holiday World
3. Ravine Flyer II, Waldameer
4. Phoenix, Knoebels
5. Thunderhead, Dollywood
6. The Beast, Kings Island
7. The Raven, Holiday World
8. Blue Streak, Cedar Point
9. Great White, Morey's Piers
10. Lightning Racer, Hersheypark

Ravine Flyer II really amazed me with how aggressive it got as the night went on and its lovely setting. Most of the airtime was just floater but there was a lot of it and the rate at which it was applied was still pretty brisk. That "mini Voyage" comment I hear about it couldn't be further from the truth. Not to mention the breathtaking view of the sun setting into Lake Erie from atop the lift and the dashing through the lakeside campground as the orange setting sunlight diffused through the trees. But if this is what it was like if it's "pants right now," I want to see how it rode a while ago...

Great White, while lacking in that aggression category that's the beating heart of my top ten, almost made up for that completely in setting, smoothness, uniqueness, and airtime. A lot more floater than I was prepared for, I liked its setting on the beach, the drop under the pier was an unexpected yet unique start to this CCI gem, but it was literally the smoothest non-RMC wooden coaster I've ridden. The thing practically felt like a toboggan, and in the back we got a decent amount of floater. Fantastic ride.

Here's another update after doing a bit of new stuff (and old) in the past 4 days. New creds in bold, and old creds that faced some changes are in italics. Rode some good stuff and it's starting to get a bit tricky with this list.

1. Skyrush
2. Boulder Dash
3. Beast
4. Millennium Force
5. Nemesis
6. Maverick
7. Top Thrill Dragster
8. Storm Chaser
9. Wicked Cyclone
10. Nitro

11. Diamondback

25. Nemesis Inferno
26. Chinese Fireball
27. Hungarian Horntail
28. Valravn
29. Roar-O-Saurus
30. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit

I'll leave it like that for now. It's possible I may do some switching around (the bottom third could all be interchangeable, but even the top half is quite close too).

Some quick thoughts right here:

Beast - This one is actually a bit tricky. Somewhat hesitant to put this at my #3 spot, which is based off the night rides. In fact if it wasn't for night rides it probably wouldn't even be in the top 15. I first rode it in the day and it was great fun but night rides really changed my mind about it. Our last ride at 10:30 at night in particular was one of the best experiences I've had, so I felt like this deserves a spot up in the top 5.

Voyage - A bit let down by this one. My best ride was in the front but the airtime wasn't the best. Rode it in the back as well, more airtime there but much more violent.

Will go into detail for the rest of the stuff in a PTR soon.
