The Next Busch Gardens Twins?

First off, if this is not in the correct thread (I want to say the only other one where it might fit would be News & Rumors but there's no real information to go by which is why I put it here) I would love it if a mod/admin could move it to the right one.

Anyway, there are rumors of Gwazi being shut down in the future given that it seems to have horrible luck and apparently rides horribly (I'll unfortunately get to see for myself when I go there in November), if you look at Gwazi on Google Maps you will see that Gwazi takes up quite a lot of land and there are a few small empty lots next to it. This could almost certainly allow for a new coaster for BGT, probably a small-medium-sized one. This could also give them an opportunity to clean the area up.

However, knowing how Busch Gardens does things, they never build a coaster without a sister coaster at their other park. Cheetah Hunt and Verbolten, SheiKra, and Griffon, and Alpengeist and Montu are all great examples of this.

So I looked at BGW on Google Maps. While they do have the infamous Drachen Fire plot that seems like the obvious choice, they just renovated Oktoberfest and while a new country would fit back there quite nicely (Sweden?) I don't think they Blackstone would do that. All the countries that will be there are there I think simply because of how long the park has been around and all of the countries have certain histories to them, it would feel strange to have a new one built this far after the last one (I want to say it was Italy?) was built. So I'm fairly certain that that plot could be used. HOWEVER, in terms of which areas need the most love, I noticed something. When I went in 2007, Ireland was my favorite section of the park in terms of how it looked. The buildings were beautiful and it really felt authentic. Cork Screw Hill was cool (shame they got rid of it) and I really enjoyed the show, Secrets of Castle O'Sullivan. While both of those are gone, the area is still really nice, and it's a real shame there's nothing to do there. However, if you look at Killarney on Google Maps, there is a lot of unused land around it. While it is nice that BGW is sort of a backwoods-y park and it works well with the European theme, at the end of the day, they need a coaster or something to do in Killarney, and a coaster would fit in there well, probably one a little smaller than Gwazi's replacement. In addition, Ireland has all sorts of Irish mythology that the park can play with. Kings Island's already doing it with Banshee, I could see BGW pulling this off very well.

Now what do the Busch Gardens parks need? I would have to say that both parks need wooden coasters, since BGW doesn't have one and BGT is losing theirs. I would rule out wing coasters simply because both parks already have inverts (though you can have inverts and wing coasters, I think SFGAm has an invert, a flyer, AND a wing coaster) but in the off chance they do put wing coasters there, I could see the Williamsburg one being the dominant of the two.

However, I do think that both Busch Gardens parks need good wooden coasters. Two GG looping woodies like Hades 360 would work well. A twisted one similar to Gwazi would work well in the Gwazi plot (maybe go as far as to call it Gwazi: Reborn or something?) and an out and back would work well in the Killarney plot. Maybe have the track roll over on the way out and thread under the roll on the way back? Or maybe the first wooden cobra roll at the end of the layout?

Just something I was thinking about, I was wondering if anybody else had given this any thought. And again, if this is on the wrong thread, I would LOVE it if a mod could move it.

Definitely agree about both parks needing better wooden coasters, although I'm not sure about a GG looper. I'd like to see a regular GG woodie or a GCI twister. I'd rather see one in BGW first though (and it's probably more likely, since BTG already had a woodie), and have it take advantage with the terrain.

I think it'd also be cool to see BGT get a B&M hyper, that way both parks could have one. Maybe one that's more in the 200-250 ft height range, rather than one that's 250-299 ft tall.

No love for you; I'd say it's in the right place. It's certainly not fit for News and Rumours since you're basically just wildly speculating and asking others to do the same.

If Gwazi is actually on its way out, I don't really see much marketing value in replacing it with another woodie. Improving the existing coaster(s), as Six Flags has now (arguably) done with RMC with a few of their rides would make more sense.

A wooden coaster isn't going to happen for BGW, don't get your hopes up. Noise complaints would flood from Kingsmill if BGW even tried to file to have one built.

Are great examples or the ONLY examples..?

Gwazi - no woody at BGW.
Sand Serpent - no mouse at BGW.
Scorpion - no schwarz at BGW.
Kumba - no B&M sit down invert at BGW.
Apollo's Chariot - no B&M hyper at BGT.

So basically; because they have four coasters (in each park) that are similar to the other park, it means they NEVER build a singular coaster at one park and not the other? I think the facts speak for themselves and say that your above statement is false.

Although the parks are both owned by Busch and are in fact sister parks, they're run as separate business'. I'm not debating that Busch will more than likely cut some kind of deal with manufacturers if they're adding a similar coaster type to both parks, I'm merely stating that the whole point of this thread is based on a false statement and nothing more.

^Kumba - Drachen Fire
Drop tower (whatever it's called) in williamsburg two years ago - Falcon's Fury next year at BGT

I think it is fair to say that a majority of the big rides come in a pair of two. Obviosly there are exceptions (Apollo's). And not all of them come from the same manufacturer (Cheetha Hunt - Verbolten). But Busch Gardens obviously have some sort of strategy where they're investing in similar attractions in both parks.

Loch Ness Monster's sister coaster was also Python at BGT, and Drachen Fire was indeed a sister coaster to Kumba.

I'd think an RMC is most likely in the event of a woodie simply due to the fact that I feel like they'd be quieter than a traditional wooden coaster, though I might be wrong.

Maybe BGT gets a sister coaster to
Apollo's Chariot that uses much of the Gwazi plot, and BGW gets a large looper to fill the gap left by Drachen Fire.

Since this is all purely speculative hearsay with no backing - bring on that 200 ft. log flume I have always longed for!

Fixed it for you. :P

Actually, I'm not entirely sure it wouldn't be possoble to have a 200 foot log flume. Put an up stop device on it like on Divertical but in the flume and maybe some trims and it might be possible. Unlikely though.

An RMC woodie would be the best for Williamsburg. I would love that. And as for the rumored area, screamscape rumored spain. Since BGW isn't adding anything major for 2014, If the park is to get anything, the earliest it would happen would be 2015. But knowing BGW, it normally takes a while to build another coaster(ex-verbolten)

I'll echo what gavin said earlier about replacing a replacing Gwazi with another woodie. It doesn't make any sense from a marketing standpoint.

I know someone mentioned that BGW won't get a woodie due to noise constraints. Are RMC Iron Horses loud at all? If not, maybe we could be seeing a refurb of Gwazi and a new RMC at BGT.

When I was at BGT over the summer, Gwazi was by far the least popular of the five major coasters. They were only running one side, and I think that's permanent for now. It could definitely use a refurbishment to get more people interested in the ride. Maybe an extended layout and an inversion or two. I'm not sure whether or not they should keep the second track.

Worlds first wooden launch coaster at bgw.
I know it's not coming given how BGW has left Intamin as a customer after Escape from Pompeii, but I feel like they could use the LSM lift system from El Toro to make a launched prefab woodie, maybe even with an inversion.

That's true, but BGT did build Cheetah Hunt last year. How much of the manufacturer preference/decision is up to the individual parks? If BGT used Intamin, is it a sign that the whole chain might begin using them again?

The individual parks have a lot of say on what gets built in the parks. Larry Giles, the guy who makes these decisions for BGW, has sworn away from Intamin for as long as he works there. This explains why Verbolten and Mach Tower, two rides that Intamin could make, are not made by Intamin.

Whilst Verbolten was a good idea, was Mach Tower over an Intamin? Surely he knows Mach is a piece of crap?

I dont think either park will get another wood. Noise and structure density is an issue at Willyburg, audience is an issue in Tampa.

I think it'll be a long time before we see major investment at BGW and BGT will just continue at a steady pace.
