The Intimidator. B&M Hyper 2010 - Carowinds

^Yeah, the first hill/turn is completely done.

And I got a bug in both pictures! How lucky is that?
There's still a lot of movement and it looks like they're putting some supports in for the next hill today.

^ Think it was the same bug?

This looks like it is going up very fast compared to most big coasters.

As near I can tell, they put up 7 or 8 supports and track sections just today.

In the unlikely event that they could continue that pace, they'd be done with steel erection in roughly 14 work days.

^ I'd imagine they'd be able to keep up this pace for the middle portion of the layout as construction equipment has extremely easy access; they just have to keep rolling the cranes along the parking lot as the track progresses.

Huge progress again today. The 3rd hill is well onto the downslope now and it'll likely bottom out on Monday. The back section of the ride also started to go up today, with another slope upwards already constructed with a few supports being added right now. I'm still very impressed at the speed of this.

^If you want to be technical, they have the 1st and 2nd hill done.. and are working on the 5th hill.. as no one counts the lift hill as a 'hill' in the layout. Only pedantic skanks do that..

HOLY CRAP, that is looking so fabulous, why so fast though? Do they just wanna start testing super early to make sure everything is set, or what?

Is the weather pretty bad during the winter months?

No, the winters aren't bad at all in that area. I don't think they "need" to build it fast, it's just that the ease of the build allows it to move rapidly.

And it surely is cheaper if it can be done fast. I guess the workers are paid by the hour, crane rent probably isn't very cheap either.

I think what really helped this one is the room that the cranes have to work. There is flat dry ground on one side and cement on the other. I guess this is big for a "parking lot coaster" (LOL; it's almost one). Seriously, may God be with anyone if they have to deal with mud, hills, trees, or water. I haven't seen any rain or snow in any construction pictures of this site either. For a Cedar Fair park, this is pretty far south. Maybe they can open earlier than some and they want this ride testing by then.

This is crazy. Litrally in the last few hours they have done the second half of that far hill. The WHOLE hill since lunchtime GMT.
