What's new

The Games we play...

I'm not having a go at anyone John. I'm merely voicing my opinions which I'm allowed to do. I've not once said I hate Game as I wouldn't go back there if I did. I've just said that it's not the best place to get games which is ironic seeing as the store is called 'Game'. I understand you work there and have a better understanding of how things work than me and the last thing I want to do is annoy you as you'll know from meeting me that I'm not like that.
If you weren't working there would you still have the same views?

Unlike Clam I'm only saying what I see as a customer. Isn't it important what they think as if they're not satisfied then that's a loss of money in some way for the store.
All I've said is that it's one of the most expensive place to get games (yes I know they sell them at the RRP but isn't the whole point of business to be competing with the market to give the best deal?).
And the other thing I said was that I feel ill most the times I go into a Game store which is also true. I can't help it happening so it's hardly attacking you or the store as an insult.

The last thing I want is an argument. I was merely saying what I though before you got defensive.

I really like Game. So there. And I'm always right. So, that's that.

The quick rundown of what I've been playing on my new Xbox (which I love):

GTA4 - Kick ass. I got stuck though.
Resi 5 - Meh. It's not 4 is it? It's cool, but, not 4 ¬¬
Dead Space - AWESOME. Love it. It's so Alien meets The Thing, and I love it. Got stuck though ¬¬.
Forza 3 - LOVEEEE IIITTTTTTTTT. Amazing.

Yep. And CoD on Tuesday xD xD xD I ordered it this afternoon. So excited xD

Lain it might be this list...

Edit : Oh yeah and I like Game for I get points off new stuff even on trading stuff in, they have good trade-in deals, and even their pricing is spot on at the moment (even my beloved Grainger Games was selling Uncharted the same as Game was!)

Another thing to add into my edit, I just completed Uncharted 2 on Hard, the youtube guide I was using for the hidden treasures though was ****ed up chronologically (although it was funny!) so I only have 97 out of 101 grrr lol.

your all full of i knew there was a reson i didnt post in here any more its not the game recomend thread its the ollie mr clam talk bollox thread just to piss people off so to be honet the lot of ya can off and go yaself i sick of all the with ignorant people who dont have a clue what there on about.

YOU MAD!?

But seriously, trade in sucks, pre-owned games are usually a waste of time anyway so I tend to just pick up games on the cheap, and if I'm really fussy I'll buy a few cheap games from Gamestation as they're much better value than Game. And I hate CEX, extortionate mugs. When the Wii came out and people were struggling to get hold of them, they were selling them for £500 a piece.

Oh, and I'm getting COD, purely because the new Fifa has been completely and utterly ****ed over by the money grabbing arrogant ****s at EA, and most of my mates will be playing MW2 online. Hell I bought COD4 and spent half hour offline and over a day online. In truth, I very rarely play games offline any more.

Digital distribution will fail due to the fact nobody likes a monopoly.

Who here would buy World at War if given the single option of paying £50 for it by digital distribution?

Anyone?

Nope, people don't want to pay more than they think a game is worth, and very few people think a game is worth that much.

They may if they have a product in their hand, which they know they can sell on again at some point in the future.

At certain price points too, games become an impulse buy. Most new games are too expensive, which is why there is a second hand games market. We've heard belly aching from the game industry for 30 years now about how piracy is killing the games industry, now it's second hand games.

If all your games end up in a second hand bin after a week - it's because your game is **** and disappointing. If you had charged £50 for it and people were stuck with it, they'd not buy from you again.

The second hand market gets people into stores where they will often buy other games.

Look at the examples here:
Two games trade in against a new one. So that is three games sold to one individual, three games that have gone into the games industry pocket.

Those two games go into second hand, where they're picked up by a price conscious buyer who would never have picked up the game at release price anyway. So the games industry wouldn't have seen their money, and still doesn't see their money. Nett effect = nothing.

However, Game have now got somebody who could not have otherwise afforded a new game to purchase their new game.

Without the second hand market, I would have maybe bought one game this year. With it, I've bought probably ten brand new games this year.

I've spent maybe £35 on download games. If I'd not bought new games, I'd have spent no more on download games.

I think it's time the games industry stopped looking for scapegoats (beyond their own marketing department) for excuses as to why games don't sell.

Just to clarify for you lain the games are as follows

PS3
call of duty modern warfare
boarderlands
wwe 2010
brutal legend
ninja gaiden sigma 2
tekken 6
operation flashpoint
fifa 2010
marvel ultimate alliance 2
beatles rockband
need for speed shift
uncharted 2

XBOX 360
basicly the same apart from ninja gaiden and uncharted are substituted for
gta tales from liberty city
forza 3

so any one gets it ya for half price any two gets it ya for nowt.
I have to say though i am sick of hearing about modern warfare 2 until today we got all the copies in ready for sale on tuesday and so had a sneeky go and have to say in one word EPIC its soooo good and all the extra accesories we got today are cool to espesially the pads which come in kevlar boxes and glow green when turned on and there the same price as a normal pad so me thinks ill be getting one lol

Microsoft are ****ing ****e and they are solely to blame for Fifa 10 being absolutely ****ing diabolical.

^^Thays quite a freaky coincidence(sp) We have had quite a few complaints today about fifa stopping working on xbox's We are waiting for a response from microsoft. As for the midnight launch not all stores ar doing it so check your local for info but im uder the asumption its pre order only as we are selling pre order only we have none spare for general sale and thats after over 700 pre orders

At the moment i ordered off play as part of a deal 2for £25

Lego Star Wars - The Complete Saga
Burnout Paradise

Not played burnout but playing lego star wars alot. Just love the simplicity but fun of the game, the cutscenes and just the fact it's both games in one. Also I bought it partly so my girlfriend had a simple game she could play with me on the PS3 to get her more involved with gaming as she likes games but isn't very good at them.
Loving the Lego star wars at the moment and not even unsealed Burnout yet, may do on my next day off. Also got Lego Batman, that's sealed too until I'm over my Lego star wars faze.

It's ****ing annoying that because of those twats Microsoft, EA won't develop a third ****ing patch for their ****ty ****ing game even though my console is capable of taking it.

Bleep.. Fail!

Tell that to apple!

Apple don't produce a games console... Oh, wait... No they don't, but they do sell console like game sto their mass market.

If Apple are so good, go buy an iMac, iPhone and software to produce for them...

Oh, wait, you hated it all and didn't... 30 - 15 thanks Malky :p

While digital distribution has worked, it hasn't killed off the actual physical channels. iTunes has worked well, but CD's still sell (thouhg not as well).

Likewise, Netflix may have almost destroyed Blockbuster, but DVD sales are still good.

XBox Live (and even the PSN) has shown that people are willnig to pay a decent "low" price for a good game. It's a long way from spending £40+ though on something you don't actually "own".

Digital distribution will sit alongside physical distribution for a long time yet - I'll buy a PSP GO if I'm wrong :p

Welp, was my birthday yesterday therefor my ban on buying stuff is revoked! So I got Katamari Forever and Borderlands.

Borderlands is fun and Katamari is exactly as you expect it, Awesome!!

HEY GUYS.

Sainsbury's will be selling MW2 for £26 on release day, if you have one nearby. I would expect Asda and/or Tesco to follow suit, but there's nothing concrete as yet.
