The 2010 Winter Olympics

Well considering the Ermikunz are too stupid to know which way to fire the puck unless their coach points them in the right direction - I'm fairly sure the canadians will win the hockey tonight.

Unless the yanks win by starting another war or something.

Well that's that **** over for a few more years.

Okay as an ex-english person i'll try to explain this to english people

Imagine this was the world cup final - England vs France. And it was taking place on English soil (say old trafford).

Now imagine that a member of the france team scored the first goal against you .. but happened to actually play for Man utd - i.e. at the local ground! (kesler scored first against canada - his team is the vancouver cannucks).

Now take me.. a person who has never ever ever given a flying fug about spectator sports before.. but actually cried when we won! (maybe it was because it was against the yanks - who need to be shown they're NOT the world police).

Hell it was emotional and great! And GO MJ FOX!!!! Me a fan!!! LOL

YAY!

I can honestly say that other than the 10 or so seconds me and Brad saw it on the big screen in Derby - I didn't watch it at all! <3

Did anyone else die btw? :)

Good. Its over. No sports taking over the TV yet AGAIN.

Lol at the french though. That was the only thing I saw was that mega fail.

Don't worry, I'll buy you Sky's Sport package for your next Christmas present, and then you can have all of the sports you want! ;)

And to anyone else saying they're glad it's over, then I agree with Lain. Try changing the channel ffs!

I watch the Winter Olympics when it's on far more than the summer Olympics when it's on. Probably due to the much higher crash rate, but meh. :p
These Vancouver games failed to disappoint me, especially watching the mens Hockey final yesterday with 2 Canadian flatmates who LOVE Hockey. When Crosby scored that golden goal, they went seriously mental, and it was soo funny to see their celebrations. :p

The opening and closing ceremonies showed that you don't have to go way over the top to make them entertaining, and London 2012 planner really should take note of this.

I just wish I could actually do any winter sports stuff (I struggle to even stand up in a pair of skates, and I've never been skiing or snowboarding) though. :(

I don't watch hockey all that much but the game yesterday was amazing. America made an extreme comeback, and Crosby got THE luckiest shot ever, but all in all it was awesome and exciting :p .

Good point, we lost an Olympic hockey game (to a team we'd beaten a week before, no less), and now see the "error" of our ways. I guess we'll pull all our troops off foreign soil now.

Good to know :)

Crosby did set himself up for a good shot though I'll give him that. He's a beast. Oh well back to the NHL.

I don't see the point of all this Olympic bashing tbh. If you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple as...
As far as the Gold Medal Hockey game - I enjoyed every second, especially the last few minutes of regulation time. That USA goal with 24 ticks left on the clock just set the game off & Canada deserved the overtime winner.
The biggest disappointment for me was the weather & slope conditions of both parallel giant slalom snowboarding competitions (the one Ollie mentioned). It's such a beautiful sport to watch, but you couldn't see a thing due to the heavy fog & rain plus the course wasn't properly groomed.
The best part for me was finally getting to see the biathlon (cross country skiing & shooting) & combine (ski jumping & cross country skiing), which have never been shown fully before on U.S. television.
But what gets me is the way Americans go by overall medal count to claim themselves as the top nation, whereas every other country goes by who got the most gold medals.

Because they're America, they have little dick syndrome. Always have to be the best, and the sad thing is most of the general public will buy into the propaganda. But I should be congratulating the US on having more second and third best athletes in the world.

Gotta love the american bashing, not to mention all the other countries out there probably do the same thing. but no one would say that because if American does it...oh noez!!!

LMFAO another ignorant statement. The only sport wed have the 2nd and 3rd best athletes at is Soccer, and Soccer is boring.

Wanting to be the best is a problem? I'm pretty sure every athlete from every country strives to be the best. I guess we have a world wide little dick syndrome.

..except for Africa of course.
