Whats the latest with this classic Schwarzkopf coaster, at the moment it called Tsunami at Isla San Marcos Parque Temático (Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico)

Removed, Operated from 4/27/2008 to 2013 - 2014

Make: Schwarzkopf

Well, it's not operating anymore...
I think we had a topic about it a while ago. Long story short, it has been dismantled earlier this year and is in storage in Aguascalientes, while they are trying to sell it. Skyline Park was interested in buying it a few years ago, but ultimately decided not to, since it would prove too costly to get the TUV certification renewed (or get a new one altogether).

I hope that as well, but it currently doesn't look too likely. It'd be easier to sell it if the buyer saw it running...

I doubt it also. After Löwenthal of Skyline Park inspected the coaster on site in Mexico they noted the following reasons not to buy it:

- far worse condition than advertised
- original operation manuals in German and English missing
- original TÜV certificate missing
- maintenance history records incomplete and from the time before the move to Mexico missing

So I assume this will go to scrap sooner or later. If it will sell in Middle/South America I would doubt it will be safe as operations manuals with maintenance schedules seem to be missing.

On a German forum they had some time ago a trip report about the Looping Star now operating at a safari park in the heart of Africa - and the park owners proudly showed ALL original manuals and maintenance records back to the 70s. So I think its fair to say that this coaster was quite badly treated in Mexico.

So only memories from when I rode it as Thriller on the Hamburger DOM back in day. Better than OL IMO...

^ In regard to your last sentence, does that mean that it was better than the best? :)

I liked Thriller even more than OL because

- The original transition between the first and second loop was insane in G-force as they were built behind each other - there was no straight track between loops like on all other Schwarzkopf multi-loopers - in the rear car the coaster pulled insane 6.5Gs.
- Contrary to OL Thriller had no second lift which disrupts the flow of the ride. Block brakes were only used for emergency stops and not for speed corrections.

Here's the African Looping Star info, it worked at Dreamland Margate in the 80' & 90's so this was the one I rode when the park was called Benbon Brothers.

Probably not much.

Any way, I hope Intamin either uses their Schwazkopf Patents, or sells them to a startup that will. They haven't done anything with them. Gerstlauer has been doung the maintence on the still operating Schwarzkopf coasters.
