What's new

Sochi 2014

Technically she wasn't 'disqualified' in her second race, she didn't finish ;) but I know what you mean, heartbreaking for her.

I'm with pretty much everyone else in the UK at the moment, apart from those who consider it to be a 'non-sport'. The curling is fantastic. And a bronze and a silver medal for Team GB, brilliant :D

These Games have been Britain's most successful Games since the inaugural Games of 1924, great stuff.

Remember how Canada won both golds in hockey? I do.
I was honestly expecting it and it didn't make me mad because they were the other team I wanted to win (little know Jarrett factoid: I'm obsessed with Canada and everything Canadian). Canada is to hockey as The Netherlands is to speed skating (though the US an Russia are also really good), so I expected it.

All serious talk aside, I'm loving the closing ceremony. Parade of Nations + Daft Punk + in Russia = EPIC!!! Loved the joke about the fifth ring. And did anybody else notice that Yvgeny Pluchenko didn't know the words to Russia's (very beautiful) national anthem? XD Family made Russian food and we're eating in front of the TV, great way to end this!

They were a great Games in my opinion. The pessimist in me thought bad **** was gonna happen, but it didn't and credit to Russia and the organisers for that. I got up early most mornings just to watch as much of the sport as I possible could. It was fantastic. For Britain it was our most successful Games since the first ones back in 1924 with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronzes, we won our 4th skeleton medal (2nd gold), our 10th gold overall, and due to the success more government funding has been promised which means come South Korea, in 2018, we will hopefully do even better!

I was particularly impressed in Russia's ability to 'laugh at itself' in the closing ceremony. In the opening ceremony this happened to the embarrassment of Russia:

Four of the five rings opened but the other didn't so at the closing ceremony, using people, they rather thoughtfully poked a little fun out of themselves:

Really made me smile.

I have to say, Russia must have done the IOC proud for a fantastic Games, and despite the controversy, they did **** ing brilliantly

Surprised no one has posted anything during the Paralympics. I completely forgot to be honest.

In 2010 the BBC showed a few highlights of the winter paralympics on literally some evenings. For Sochi it was down to Channel 4. They showed adverts every five minutes, did endless talking broadcast live from their Britain-based studio, and countless repeats. In terms of live sport they did a poor job.

Team GB didn't! We produced our best every medal count, 1 gold 3 silvers and 2 bronze medals. It was also our first ever winter paralympic gold medal! Quite surprised the USA only got 2 golds but I don't know how they usually do in the winters. Russia topped the table with 80+ medals.

They have been an inspiration, the Games have been brilliant, I was expecting terrorism, uselessness and just general bleugh but Sochi and Russia actually did an outstanding job.

For me, the highlight of the Paralympic Games has to be Charlotte Evans (On the right). Absolute WORLDIE!

I hope with her new found fame she gets a couple of pages in a future edition of Nuts.

^^ and ^, LUCKY!!! They don't broadcast the Paralympics here, really wish they showed both that and the youth Olympics.

Never bothered with the Paralympics. Then again, I never bothered with the Winter Olympics full stop. Anyway, from the coverage I saw, Eve Muirhead does it for me. Don't Google image her, she doesn't take a good photo (the eyes are sexy though). Youtube her again and again.

I completely agree with you about Muirhead, her eyes are just amazing.

Talking about curlers I rather fancied Vicki Adams, she was cute and I would ;)

Also there was the woman who was commentating on the snowboarding who is shamazing.

Notice how close together her features are and how far they are away from the side of her face? I don't find that attractive, can you explain why you do?

She's scary looking

^Her face looks like a cartoon that just ran into a wall. That being said she is cute and I would have a hard time telling saying no to at least a trial run.

There are several fantastic looking womens curlers. The entire team Russia were 9's and 10's if I recall.

I didn't even notice that and can't really see it now.

She's just hot, the beautiful blue eyes, the big teeth (I like big teeth XD ), the dirty blonde messy hair. She's just hawt and we'd have a nice time.
