It's so hard to even get a scale for how long that vertical drop is. Is it 50ft? 300ft? Who even knows.

I'd hazard a guess around the 200ft mark, but really I don't know.
Just comparing random photos, I think the vertical bit looks to be longer than on Yukon Striker.

Looks like it has trims at the top so will probably give that weird hanging feeling like you get on some of Intamin's recent efforts at top hats rather than crazy airtime but it should still be terrifying. And then the speed you are going to pick up on the rest of the drop + the tunnel and boost is going to be crazy.

I have no idea why but I just don't care about this project. Records are cool but a coaster like Taron tickles my pickle more than this.

At least for me when I don't feel anything for a coaster project like it's got a lot to do with whether I actually have a chance in hell to ride the thing.
I kinda get that. As a gay man sure, I'm never gonna ride this thing because I have self respect. But I don't get drawn to record breaking rides. There's something about projetcts with limitations that intrigue me like the location of Nemesis or the mastery behind F.L.Y. Falcons Flight whilst impressive, lacks a soul.

I would very much disagree that it lacks a soul. The clever supports, unique engineering, and one of a kind setting really make it stand out for me. Having seen in person a few months ago, the scale is just absolutely wild. I love projects with interesting design and this one checks all those boxes. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it cycle and hopefully getting to ride it once it opens.

It's one thing to "cheat" your way to a record for notoriety's sake, like adding one extra foot to a height record, or doing some obnoxious hair-split on the definition of something, or word-salading your way into meaninglessness, like "the world's tallest & fastest inversion inside a tunnel on a wooden coaster"

However, Falcons flight does none of those things. It simply obliterates every single one of the actual major records in the entire history of coasterdom in utterly definitive fashion. It's truly one for the ages.

I still can't fully believe that it's actually a real thing, and not some RCT fever-dream, but I do shudder at the thought of what the ongoing maintenance bill for this beast is gonna be.

I love the fact that the industry is now focused on quality over pure record breaking as much as the next person, but I must admit that there is something quite exciting about seeing a ride like this go up.

We’re very used to coasters that break very obscure records nowadays, but this is a coaster that absolutely obliterates all three major roller coaster records. Prior to the announcement, I never thought I’d see a coaster like it built, and I honestly think we may never see a coaster like this built again.

Whether it rides well is another question entirely, but from a pure engineering standpoint, I still think Falcon’s Flight will be one of the wonders of the modern roller coaster world, without a shadow of a doubt. The raw scale of the thing is obscene; we’re seeing elements that would make up whole rides on many coasters in the Western world being reduced to mere footnotes within this layout! When you think about it like that, I think it’s really quite a remarkable feat of engineering…

It amuses me that while it is the tallest coaster ever built it isn't the tallest coaster almost built.
The Vegas fishook would have been taller. If it wasn't for the city of Vegas voting down the project the fishook would have been taller than Falcons Flight over 20 years ago and i assume this may never have been built.

The fishhook wouldn’t have been full-circuit, though, would it? For some reason, there seems to be a distinction made between coasters that are full-circuit and coasters that aren’t when it comes to height…

I think that distinction is only because the tall coasters that are shuttle coasters tend to have the spike as the tallest point e.g. Superman at SFMM, Tower of Terror at Dreamworld.

While the structure is that tall, if you don't travel all the way to the top, whats the point for the rider? Otherwise Cedar Point could just add another 200 feet on Top Thrill 2's spike and claim the record, even if the train went no higher...

From what I remember though, the fish hook would have had the first drop as the tallest point, from the tower. The spike was shorter? Although haven't seen images of it in years so may be misremembering.

Basically yeah..but the fishhook would have been so tall that single car train would have easily been past the height of falcon even though it was a shuttle.

That, orrrrrrrrr.... we'd have gotten a 160ft tall climb atop the cliff, leading to a basically 800ft drop... ;)

According to Sean Evans (Lift Hills and Thrills) and SF Qiddiya City park president Brian Machamer, Falcon's Flight pull through test has already been started. Ride testing should be starting early 2025.

Wouldn't believe a thing that falls out that tw*ts mouth, surprised he's still doing youtube considering he claims to earn a 6 figure salary
