Wow! Looks great doesn't it?

Pity it's just for a film set

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters has a major scene set in a theme park, so they cleaned up Six Flags New Orleans to film there. Apparently they had to clear out all the wildlife that had moved in.

Still, it came back to life briefly :)

In June, Jerry and I visited SFNO. There was a security guard on the gate, they were filming the new Planet of the Apes film.

From what the guard said, the city makes enough cash from hiring it out to film/tv studios in it's current condition.

Still annoys me that I went right past there when it was open and did not go in as I did not really have enough time.

Haha, I saw Percy Jackson today, thought it was SFNO (never really looked at pics of the place before).

Was expecting this thread to be about plans to re-open the park as a park.

Probably never gonna happen though, huh.

Six Flags should restore, not abandon. :x
Pretty much everything that's left there is, to my knowledge, beyond usable repair. Sure, they can spiff it up for a movie, no problem, but to get rides operating again would be pretty much impossible.
