Six Flags Magic Mountain | Unknown | Vekoma Thrill Glider | 2026

It’ll be interesting to hear more about this that may explain the decision. For example, if the cars swing or not etc, and what manoeuvres it’s capable of.

For me, the best thing about inverted coasters or flying coasters is that there is nothing beneath you. With this, you’ll still have a vehicle kind of below you, so it’s a bit more difficult to understand the sensation. It does lend itself to some cool theming options though (e.g. hover bike/flying bike/flying atop a creature/spaceships/pod racing), and dodging terrain beneath you might really work well.

I think when we see the layout from all angles, not just from above, it might help clarify the decision. My initial reaction to this coaster was unsure, but it is starting to peak my interest. It just really wasn’t what I expected SFMM to choose out of all the models out there.

Sound like a broken record I'm sure, but I just can't STAND how Magic Mountain (and perhaps, Six Flags in general) just FLATTENS any kind of foliage/trees/areas when they install new coasters. Especially trees that have been there since the park opened. The only exception I can think of is Tatsu?

Really telling me they couldn't have left a quarter of the trees to install this new ride, to have some of the ride hidden, to have some damn shade? Plus flying through the trees as we all know adds to the ride experience.

Really bummed to see stuff like this at my former home park, that used to have huge foresty areas where everything wasn't just exposed.

Kind of like how Cedar Point no longer has any, actual Eastern Red Cedars. 🥲

Agreed, SFMM has been particularly violated through the years - YOLO coaster definitely took a bite out of the the central "mountain" forestry, and this takes an even bigger chomp. Granted, we definitely didn't celebrate Scream! when it was parked (hah, pun) in the back parking lot - but don't necessarily celebrate these types of moves either.

The site is still barren and permits are moving slowww. Not really much to cover.

We did get our first snippet of actual concept artwork posted for the coaster though, courtesy of Cedar Point surveying for a Thrill Glider (dumped that in this thread). These past chain surveys outright leaked the layouts last spring for Mack's launched water coaster at Plohn and the Zamp Narutocoaster at Parc Spirou, so am assuming this image has a high degree of legitimacy attached to it.

If it is called 'Cyber Cycle', the train design fits very well

Seeing as how this looks to be a suspended coaster, I wonder if this is hinting at the eventual demise of Ninja.

I certainly hope not because I love Ninja, and if there's one thing I've always applauded SFMM it's their maintenence department and the upkeep of their rides (not necessarily in appearance, but the actual operation).

But I haven't been as close to the park in recent years, so I don't know what shape it's in.

Just rode it last night, and it's still in pretty decent shape, IMO.

Rumors of it's imminent demise have been around for years. But given how rare that model is, it does mean eventually parts will be too difficult to come by, so it does seem inevitable it'll go at some point. But they do see that they want to keep it up as long as possible. It is one of the few family coasters they have, so there's some incentive to keep around as long as they can.

You must've had a great visit. When I visited a couple weekends ago Goliath, Viper, and Riddler were all down the whole weekend (with Twisted Colossus and Superman down one day as well). Spites don't seem to be uncommon which is why we spent two days there.

Ninja is such a fun re-rideable coaster, and there's nothing else like it in the park. It was my #3 at SFMM (#1 Twisted Colossus, #2 Tatsu) when I visited back in 2019.

It's reliable, low maintenance, high capacity, built-in the terrain, popular with guests, there's no benefit in removing it. Viper and Goldrusher are way better options.

I've never made it onto X/X2 over the two or three visits I've made over the years, but aside from that I've found the park fairly reliable.

This concept could be great, or it could be kind of nothing. It's really hard to tell how this would ride.

Six Flags seem to have developed a bit of a thing for delaying projects in the last couple of years. You firstly had Flash: Vertical Velocity and Georgia Goldrusher (?) delayed until 2025, then you had Quantum Accelerator delayed until 2026 (albeit I gather this was somewhat out of Six Flags’ control), then you had the Kingda Ka replacement delayed beyond 2026, and now this has been delayed to 2027.

I wonder why they’ve grown more flexible with their project timelines recently?
