Out of all Six Flags parks this park seems to be the most likely to get something big for 2016. So without further ado, let the speculation begin.

I would probably link a B&M Wingrider or a 4D coaster, similar to X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Agreed, I think Asia will be the only place we might possibly see another X2, and even then I'm not sure.
It won't be at a Six Flags park for sure. They're just not putting that sort of cash into things and they've been burnt by them before.
The new S&S ones are good rides anyway, if we could see that evolve it has potential.

Not a very substantial reason to start a thread, but not entirely pointless either. So here goes.
First, I'm disappointed that nobody have pulled the old joke yet. Come on, what happened to the age when everybody shouted "AquaTrax!" at the least mention of a hole in the ground?
Anyway, SFGAdv seems to have most of the "classics" already in their lineup: sitdown hyper, invert, flying coaster, woodie, steel multi-looper, stand-up, mine train, and launched speedster, plus a few others. Moreover, many of these rides are already so big that trying to overdo them wouldn't be feasible. I mean, making another woodie when El Toro is just around the corner is pointless, and trying to one-up Kingda Ka's launch would be hilariously expensive/impractical. You could even argue that Nitro makes any Giga Coaster redundant, although experience has shown that parks are not above building them even though conventional wisdom says they make the existing Hyper redundant (moreover, the Gigas have been successfull, after all).
My guess is that they'll either try to find a hole in their lineup to fill, or go the Maverick route and build a coaster that mixes several conventions without really breaking any records.
The former could include a Wing Coaster or a Dive Machine. These B&M bad boys have become rather popular, and are on the way to become mainstays of big parks. I wouldn't say no to a huge, towering Dive Machine à la Griffon, or a monumental Wing Coaster in the vein of Gatekeeper. A Giga theoretically isn't out of the question either, but they require an awful lot of space and money. Gerstlauer's Infinity Coasters might make for a very good "filler" ride should they decide not to hit all the "shock and awe" buttons this year. I mean, flagship attractions have become a little rarer over time, especially at Six Flags.
My personal hope, though, is for something in the spirit of Maverick. A ride that is not the biggest, or fastest, or with the most inversions, it's just a fairly big and very good coaster that doesn't rely on any gimmicks to pull crowds. Both Intamin, Mack and S&S have made these, and parks on several continents have made good money from it, so it's not totally unreasonable to hope for. I guess even the new style of Wood Hybrids could do much the same job, being a woodie with some inversions, airtime and whatnot that doesn't resemble El Toro to the point of redundancy. Just something high-quality without too much focus on size would suffice.

Basically what I meant by something like X2 is that it would be an intense, thrilling S&S Free Fly that would put BTR at Fiesta Texas to shame. Also, ATL just released a construction update for Great Adventure 2016:

Not really. We did see Over Georgia add Hurricane Harbor, and Great America added X-Flight, both near 20 million. I think there's going to be a single near 20 million dollar expansion every 2-3 years until SF gets out of debt, and once the parks in Dubai and China open. And also, SF Dubai is getting a Giga(at least if the project is still going on)._koppen said:

dont know if anyone else has had any of the sfgav marketing email questionnaires but I've received 2 , 1 gauging interest in a 4d S&S and another a shooting dark ride like justice league.

That email or whatever was fake, it was based on a survey that claimed Great Adventure wanted an S&S 4D, but every other Six Flags park on that survey listed themselves as wanting an S&S 4D, even Fiesta Texas.

Six Flags have said over and over again that they won't be spending Tatsu and Goliath money on a single ride ever again. They have now found what works for them, which is the investments we have seen in recent years with more flat rides added to parks, and well balanced roller coasters that bring in the crowds without breaking the bank.
When Six Flags get out of debt you will not see them start over with the business model who got them into the problems in the first place. They have found what works for them now, and it works very well.

Also Six Flags aren't funding the project in China. They are just licensing out the Six Flags name. We'll have to see what they get but it won't really be the same as them spending a crazy amount themselves.
^ That seems a bit stupid on the part of whoever's paying out for that really. Six Flags will have close to zero brand recognition in China.
Couple that with the fact that pretty much none of the new parks in China outside OCT and Chimelong are actually making any money, and the whole thing looks even more suspect.
