What's new

Shanghai, China | Shanghai Disneyland | Theme Park

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

Yeah, I'm sure they're capable of doing something cool and out of the mould like Mystic Point or the whole of DisneySea, Asia just laps that **** up.

I'm so excited that I have a legit excuse to go back to Shanghai, China when this is done <3 I hope it doesn't do a Hong Kong and not have anything for ages though.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

^They definitely seem to be opening with a lot more already in place than Hong Kong had.

I think Hong Kong did it "right" in a way though. They opened small, but with space and plans in place for other areas and rides in the main park, plus going for originality in a lot of their rides. Plus there's loads of space for a whole new park somewhere down the line. They're giving people reasons to keep going back and are now starting to turn a profit.

Shanghai has a much larger direct customer base, so starting big is much, much less of a gamble than it would have been if Hong Kong had tried it.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

That's quite something.

It looks fabulous, can't wait to see it built.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

Michael Eisner recently posted a photo of him stood at the front of the construction for the Tron Coaster to his Instagram. It's actually somewhat taller than I thought, especially the back MCBR.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

Apparently the park have signed a 'shocking' deal with Pepsi, the first Disney park to do so! *gobsmack*

Disneyland Shanghai China

Just hope it stays out the other parks but after other parks signed with coke last year I did fear this could happen.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

I think it's definitely safe to move this over to park construction now...

Screamscape has linked to some information confirming the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure ride and the Treasure Cove area going into the park.

For the first time ever, a Disney Park will be home to a Pirates-themed land—Treasure Cove—and an e-ticket attraction called Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure. The attraction will feature a combination of new technology and innovation to bring guests along a pirate adventure with Captain Jack Sparrow and Captain Davy Jones, providing our guests who visit the Shanghai Disneyland Park an experience unlike anything else in the world.

Apparently it’s going to be based heavily on the films, but with an element of the traditional rides. It doesn’t actually say, but common sense suggests that it will still be a boat ride, but with highly updated effects.

Also, I thought that I’d previously posted this list of rumoured areas, rides and attractions that was leaked ages ago, but it seems I didn’t. It was probably because it was just rumour with nothing official, but based on the confirmations that have been happening since the list was leaked (ride names/areas exactly right etc.), I’d say it’s fairly safe to see it as official.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

Wow the place looks stunning :)

Looks like they are opening it with a lot of attractions which is a good thing.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

I absolutely love the look of this land! - Especially Explorer Canoes sounds like a cool and unique attraction!

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

Am sure there are canoes at Paris? Never seen them open but have seen the sign for them.

Re: Disneyland Shanghai China

^ The canoes at Paris haven't been open for years, neither have the river rogue keel boats but the station for both are still there.

Overall this looks absolutely amazing but particulary the pirates area looks stunning and I can't wait to see what they do with this new Pirates of the Caribbean. The thought of all the animatronic pirates looking as life like as the new Jack Sparrow animatronic is really exciting.
