Saw Alive: Thorpe Park Horror Maze for 2010

^Where did you get that image from? It looks amazing.

*Waits for a joke about how all Thorpe toilets look like that anyway*

Was posted by Thorpes offical FB page today, and I may not like the concept but that pic does look very nice indeed.

The building itself looks tripe tbh. Another DIY-SOS moment. It looks so flat and lifeless with barely any shape to it. Much like the actual ride building. Like I said back then. If people were to create a building like that in RCT they would be trashed for being so "squared" with their buildings....

The queueline. I am glad that they have put in more of the high barbed-wire fencing though. In terms of design and the effect they give for those in the queue line they work tremendously well. For the ride itself I actually like queuing in that section. It evokes feelings of being trapped and claustrophobia for me which actually goes some way towards hyping you up ready for the ride. (it's a same that fencing stops and the WHOLE queue isn't like it tbh).

So yes, high barbed wire fences are a win - for this theme. That bit looks awesome.

In a recent press release by the park, they have stated some of the things that you can expect within the maze:

Not only will guests have to stomach the stench of urine but their senses will also be assaulted with equalling nerve-shattering smells such as embalming fluid, burnt hair and rotting meat. And the experience does not stop there - those brave enough to enter SAW Alive will encounter six traps in an atmosphere that will involve strobe lighting, vibrating floors, an electrified corridor and special air canon effects that will simulate gunshots.

I'm glad that they are going for some multi-sensory effects, which should create the desired atmosphere.

Wow that sounds cool. I take it the electrified corridor backs up that story when they were electrifying students lol. :p
They do similar things in other haunts where you go to grab a railing and it's got an electric current through it so you get a shock. :p
Sounds great and a true multi-sensory attack. If the smells are as bad as they sound then it'll be cool, although they'll have to be strong smells to make it effective.
Also burning hair? Which trap was that? You've got the oven from the second film and the hair pulling trap from the fourth film.

Also heard the maze is getting seven scenes soon and there's room for two more scenes after that. Which is good as it's been rumoured there will be nine Saw films so then they can add a new scene each year. :)

But since that image I'm really looking forward to it. Wasn't too sure to begin with but the themeing looks great. :D

Saw VI was amazing and the new director as done wonders for the series. He's saved it basically. Even though it sounds cheesy that it'll be in 3D I reckon it'll work really well.
Still this topic isn't about the films...

Sounds good. I hope they are proper traps that the guests will be involved in. I so want them to have that 'hole in the wall' thingy with that blade sound effects, in Vegas wasn't it? Or Cali?

Please, if there is a god, no. Seriously, the first was good, that was it.

They certainly wont make it to the 9th film if the overall takings dont pick up lol.

Anyways, back to the attraction.
I like the fact that they are going for the whole immersive experience with this. Personally, I hate these maze attractions. I am the first to admit that I have a done a few that have totally scared the **** out of me. Having said that, I will at least try it once. If it lives up to the films and is as immersive as they are billing it, it will be bloody scary (for me) and I will hate it and never want to do it again. If it manages that then they have done their job imo.

Could be either from the Furnace Trap (Saw II), or Marks Flammable Jelly trap (Saw), could it also possibly be one of the traps from the 5-1 test in Saw V, the one in which Luba dies (The electric bathtub) as surely being electricuted will burn your hair.

Anyway I am officially wetting myself with excitement :) This is looking amazing IMO. From the pic of the bathroom trap scene (Which thorpe annoyingly reffered to as the washroom  ) they have really done the SAW series justice. I only hope the other rooms are this well themed.

I'm with Mark on this one.

This kind of thing has no interest in me whatsoever.

And before Ollie starts crying,it has nothing to do with the theme,it could be themed to the Wizard of Oz,and I still wouldn't care.

I may try it just the once,if the queue is short enough, but if the queue is long,I'll happily walk past, sticking two fingers up at the people queueing.

Did they mix up the theming budgets between the ride and the maze?

Seriously... The maze looks like it'll trounce the 'well-themed' ride...

It looks amazing. Theming is top notch.
Can't believe I doubted the park. Really thought they were going to ruin their opportunity at having the license to do this, especially after seeing what they did at HHN.
CANNOT WAIT to do this now. It looks so amazing.

Lets not get TOO excited, if you saw just a photo of the prop from the third one in the ride queue you'd think it was epic...
