Rides that have aged/changed drastically

Desert Race. It was glass smooth the first time I rode it, but last year it was rattling like hell! :? Don't know if I just cought it on a bad day or if it really could age that bad (only two years in between the goes). It's especially sad since it used to be a top 10 ride for me :( but unfortunately far from it now..
That's Intamin for you.

Kingda Ka.
Never thought an Intamin could have worse head-banging than a vekoma SLC or more rattling than a Beemer.

And the 0-128 mph launch in 3.5 seconds.............

The only thing this thing delivers is the 456'.
No airtime and a not-so-great view. Six Flags clones a ride and still manages to make it 100X more ****!

^And which ride is Kingda Ka a "clone" of again? :?

Colossus was the best I've ever ridden it a few weeks ago, and Saw was crap from the beginning so doesn't really fit into this topic.

My vote goes for X2. In 2009 it was an incredible ride, music blaring away, fairly smooth and a lot of fun. Two years later and with no music working, the ride was **** bad.

I would agree with kingda ka I never road it until 2011 but it was super rough. Really dissapointing. I can't think of any rides I have ridden a few years later and they were significantly worse/rougher. But there are a some that I have ridden a couple years later and seemed much better.

^^ Near clone of Top Thrill Dragster. Close enough imo to get the deserved clone title.

I remember watching Mega-structures "The Ultimate Roller Coaster".
Six Flags wanted to take the original blue-print of TTD and make it "Taller", "Faster", and "better".

TTD +8mph +36' + elevated brake run = KDK, the ultimate originality machine cool)
This is probably the reason why CP went with Maverick. Why build something that cost millions of dollars and hours of planning, only for SF to come in and use the same Idea and add that "originality" charm?

Kingda Ka is not that bad. Have you ridden in the front row?

I find it terrible. Remove those pointless OTSR. OTSR = Pain. Its funny how they just copied TTD and managed to make it theoretically "better" yet it turned out to be a cheap Chinese-like knock off.

The new OTSRs aren't bad on it, aka i305's old ones. It still rattles like a mofo, and is still meh overall. Personally I rank TTD higher than Kingda Ka, but it's not much higher, and nowhere near my top 10, one trick pony coasters can **** off, imo.

Sorry but someone had to see this coming eventually...

Jubilee Odyssey...

Well, it's changed drastically due to being rebuilt to stop it from stalling. After that though, I think the ride has always been the same?

I`m assuming you thought the ride weren't that bad when it opened?

After all this topic isn't called "Ride you hate the most" now is it?

The amazing thing is, Kingda Ka hasn't really aged much at all. It's still on its original coat of paint, and nothing has changed over time with the ride of notice, well other than the operations. If you really want to see what aged badly in Great Adventure, it's the original queue line Kingda Ka was supposed to take.

El Toro can sort of qualify for this. It certainly is smooth for a woodie but compared to 2006 it's nowhere near as smooth as what it once was.

Rita, it hasn't aged well at all, last time I rode it, it was actually very rough.

Dragon Khan also qualifies, not that it's gone rough, but last time I rode it (and Oriol can back me up), it was TOO intense, I couldn't ride it again. This could be due to the fact it was at 2am & in Uagust so had warmed up all day and night, but still.

The only part Rita that I find rough is the low turn after the first hill. The part that used to go over the corkscrew station, the shaping is horrendous do to this and its aged badly. In terms of Dragon Kahn that was fine for me near the front but on the back however it was so intense I couldnt ride it again afterwards.
Baco was HORRIBLE. Absolutely terrible, the ride looks great and the launch was fine but after that it's so rough it hurts.

^No, I can see where he is coming from.
The rides is awfully rusted now.

Thats right. The topic title includes 'aged' which i think JO has pretty badly. Not just rust but the track going pink, it's only 10 years old! Actually it started turning pink in about 2009/2010 so 7/8 years old. There's limescale everywhere and rust spots, the track is bumpy and jerky, it desperately needs a new train, everything feels loose and rattly

It was like that in 2008 when I went on it. I just thought it had been built that way ;)

It certainly didn't feel like that in 2006 let alone when it was built! But im as aware as the next bloke here that slc's wear out very quick. Apparently kumali is getting the same now!

And just to add to my never ending SLC tirade, Infusion is starting to look nasty too with bits of rust showing through and bits of traumitizer red showing through too. Just watched a pov video online and i can only imagine it rides terribly too.

It was smooth one month ago. Almost didn't rattle anything at all. I actually thought Black Mamba was a lot worse.

Colossus on the other hand could use some re-tracking in the big valleys. That ride, how freaking awesome as it was, gave me a bit of a spinning in my head after a few rides.
