Agreed Rob, totally - except on Baco
I think the thing is, there is nothing on Baco which pushes my buttons - except the launch and airtime. Even without the horrid rattling, the ride does nothing that excites me in other rides.
It's like people who love Stealth. I love the launch, I think it's a massive thrill and the adrenaline kick is awesome. Then the launch ends and I feel nothing for the ride. It's a cheap 3 second thrill.
Oblivion is exactly the same too. I adore Oblivion, love the whole experience, but... It's a nothingy ride really at the same time. It does the little bit it does fantastically.
Sheikra and Griffon do it, and then do some more and then do it again and some more. Oddly, I found Griffon left me feeling a bit empty though - the same way I feel about Baco. You have that initial "WOOOOHHHHOOOOOO!!!" you have on Oblivion. Oblivion ends though (like Stealth) and you sit on the brake run going "must breathe... so exciting". Griffon you end up going... ""WOOOOHHHOOOOO!!! Oh, and there's more, but it's not quite as exciting and now the adrenaline is wearing off and I still have another drop... Oh, I can't raise adrenaline for that drop, and the inversions not too good, oh that water splash was nice" You start brilliantly, and then end like you would standing watching a fountain with all the excitement gone.
I'm making that sound much worse than it is, Griffon is an excellent ride, but that's the vague kind of idea. Baco is similar, that launch and dip is superb, but then the rest of the ride is not ticking any boxes for me (other than "it hurts" ), so by the time I'm back in the station, I've lost all excitement gained from that launch. Sometimes, less is more.
That doesn't mean it's the same for everybody though. If that layout is ticking your boxes, then the launch is your "wow" and then it's followed by a constant high of stuff you love. If that love isn't there then... What's left? It's similar with people who don't like B&M floater - if you don't like it, you'll never enjoy any B&M Hyper (except maybe the great first drops they have). Those who do like it will rave on and on about how great they are
I did mention earlier in the post, Newquay, Wales
